Email is a frm f cmmunicatin that is changing, fr the wrse, the way we write and use language, say sme cmmunicatin researchers. It is als changing the way we interact(交流) and build relatinship. These are a few f the recently recgnized features f email, say experts, which shuld cause individuals and rganizatins t rethink the way they use email.
“Email has increased the spread f careless writing habits,” says Nami Barn, a prfessr f linguistics(语言学) at an American university. She says the pr spelling, grammar, punctuatin and sentence structure f emails reflect(反映) a grwing uncncern abut the way we write.
Barn argues that we shuldn’t frgive and frget the pr writing ften shwn in email. “The mre we use email and its tasteless writing, the mre it becmes the nrmal way f writing,” the prfessr says.
Others say that despite its pr writing, email has finished what several generatins f English teachers culdn’t: it has made writing fashinable again.
“Email is a critical new cmmunicatin technlgy.” says Ian Lancashire, a prfessr f English at Trnt University. “It fills the gap between spken language and the frmal methds f writing that existed befre email. It is the purest frm f written speech.”
