As smene wh has bth interacted with real dgs and rbts, I can tell yu that this is quite a bld claim.
Sure, rbts may have sme benefits ver real dgs. They can wrk fr lnger hurs and wn’t cause allergies (过敏) r pass n diseases. But can a rbt give yu that wet-nsed, tail-wagging, slbber-filled experience that a real dg can? I think nt.
Nw, I’m nt saying that rbts dn’t have their place in therapy. In fact, I can see hw an animal rbt culd be helpful in certain situatins where a real dg might nt be pssible. But let’s nt g replacing all the gd bys and girls with rbts just yet.
As fr the study, it’s interesting t see that while the kids said they lved real-life dgs better, they actually spent mre time interacting with the rbt. I can nly imagine that it was ding sme pretty impressive tricks, sme rbt dance r rbt jkes maybe, t hld the kids’ attentin fr that lng.
In all seriusness, thugh, I d think it’s imprtant t cnsider the welfare f therapy dgs. Visiting hspitals can be stressful and tiring fr them, and we shuld be explring all ptins t make therapy experiences as psitive and enjyable as pssible fr bth the animals and the patients.
S, while I may nt be ready t trade in my furry friends fr rbts just yes, I am pen t the idea f intrducing animal rbts int therapy prgrams. Wh knws? Maybe ne day we’ll all have ur wn persnal rbt pets that can prvide us with just as much lve and cmpaninship as the real thing. But until then, I’ll stick with my trusty furry friends.

The atmspheric level f carbn dixide (CO2)—a gas that is great at trapping heat, cntributing t climate change—is almst duble what it was prir t the Industrial Revlutin. This presents a challenge t researchers attempting t design artificial trees r ther methds f capturing (捕获) carbn dixide directly frm the air. That challenge is ne a Sandia Natinal Labratries-led team is trying t slve.
Led by Sandia chemical engineer Tuan H, the team has been wrking n a prject using pwerful cmputer mdels cmbined with labratry experiments t study hw a kind f clay can take in carbn dixide and stre it. “These fundamental findings have ptential fr direct-air capture; that is what we’re wrking tward,” said H. “Clay is really inexpensive and rich in nature, which shuld allw us t reduce the cst f direct-air carbn capture significantly, if this high-risk, high-reward prject ultimately leads t a technlgy. What’s mre, it can be used like spnges (海绵) t absrb carbn dixide, and then the gas will be ‘squeezed’ ut f and pumped deep undergrund.”
Carbn capture and strage is the prcess f capturing extra carbn dixide frm the Earth’s atmsphere and string it deep undergrund with the aim f reducing the impacts f climate change such as mre frequent severe strms, rising sea levels and increased drughts and wildfires. This carbn dixide culd be captured frm fssil-fuel-burning pwer plants, r ther industrial facilities r directly frm the air, which is mre technlgically challenging. Carbn capture and strage is widely cnsidered ne f the least cntrversial technlgies, t deal with climate change.
“We wuld like lw-cst energy, withut ruining the envirnment,” said Susan Rempe, a Sandia biengineer n the prject. “Direct-air carbn capture is imprtant fr reducing the amunt f carbn dixide in the air. We can live in a way that desn’t prduce as much carbn dixide, but unfrtunately, we can’t cntrl what ur neighbrs d.”
28.What prblem is presented in paragraph 1?
A.The cnstant change f atmsphere.
B.The design f artificial trees.
C.The rising amunt f carbn dixide.

A.A cmputer-aided mdel. B.High-reward investment.
C.Sme lw-risk technlgy.D.Clay-based carbn capture.
30.What can be inferred frm Susan Rempe’s wrds?
A.We need jint effrts t reduce carbn release.
B.Carbn dixide hlds the key t air pllutin.
C.Human activities have ruined ur envirnment.
D.Our neighbring cuntries shuld take the blame.
31.Which f the fllwing can be the best title fr the text?
A.T Capture Carbn Dixide r Nt?
B.Can Clay Capture Carbn Dixide?
C.What Carbn Dixide Can Create
D.Hw Carbn Dixide Traps Heat

We’ve gt ppulatin grwth and climate change. Hw are we ging t deal with that? I think there’s smething t be learned by lking at past scieties wh managed water fr thusands f years.”
That great sciety was the Hhkam. Between 100 and 1450 AD, they cnstructed 1,000 miles f canals. As the Hhkam expanded their netwrk, they cnstantly repaired, cleaned and diverted the canals. “It requires cperatin, because all the users f the water frm that canal have t agree nt nly t cnstruct it, but als t maintain it,” Hendersn, a scientist, said. “Users wuld have t agree t certain cnditins t keep the entire system ging.” The Hhkam cmmitted t sharing water and put themselves n timetables.
The Hhkam used canal irrigatin fr 3,000 years. “That, t me, is the definitin f sustainable develpment,” Huckleberry said. “They learned hw t sustainably farm, t manage water, t nt destry their sils in a way that is wrthy and might give us insight int hw we might deal with the current truble. I think ne f the key lessns is that yu dn’t put all yur eggs in ne basket.”
