    As scientists in the Netherlands tried t figure ut hw t build a super flying rbt, they learned frm ne f nature’s flyers: the humble fruit fly(果蝇). And by building this rbt, they’ve gained new insights int hw the fly carries ut ne f its dangerus tasks.
    The rbt is called the DelFly Nimble Its wingspan(冀展) is abut a ft wide. It has fur wings that can beat at 17 times per secnd, which appear very delicate because they’re made f the same material as space blankets.
    In the previus designs, they always had a tail, like a traditinal airplane tail, said the rbts main designer Matej Karasek. He’s based at the Micr Air Vehicle Labratry at Delft University f Technlgy in the Netherlands, and he and his clleagues published their findings n Thursday in Science.
    “In the previus generatins”, he said, “flapping wings drve the rbt frward while the tail helped t guide and stabilize it. But nw the DelFly Nimble is cmpletely cntrlled by the wings. The challenge then was actually cmbine the cntrl int the wing mvement, and that’s what we achieved,” Karasek said.
    In the latest generatin, the wings can each mve individually r rtate (旋转) arund the bdy f the rbt in rder t maximize the machine s agility(灵活). The rbt can remain in ne place in the air fr abut five minutes n a full battery r fly fr mre than a kilmeter. One is helping kids understand hw imprtant it is t aplgize in a meaningful way. “Children are able t recgnize an insincere aplgy, and insincere aplgies are nt helpful in encuraging frgiveness,” Mulvey says. “The aplgy needs t make it clear that smene understands why what they did was wrng. This, in turn, makes ther kids mre likely t give them a secnd chance.”
    The secnd fcus is helping kids understand the perspectives f ther peple, even if they are different frm yurs. “One f the biggest implicatins (可能的影响) f ur study is that teachers and parents need t actively help children learn the thery f mind skills,” Mulvey says. “A gd starting pint is getting kids t explain the reasn behind their actins and hw this might make ther peple feel.
