When smene damages their backbne, the injury can leave them paralyzed (瘫痪). Nw, scientists have given three paralyzed men the ability t walk again, thanks t an implanted device.

The patient's brains aren't sending "walking"messages t their legs. Instead, the tablet tells the implant t send the walking messages. The researchers used cmputers t generate patterns f mvement, like taking a step. The patient then uses the tablet t chse the pattern and the muscles mve in the chsen way. Over time, the men were able t walk using a special walker with buttns t cntrl each leg.
The slutin isn't perfect. It's very expensive, it requires difficult surgery, and the patients can't walk withut the system. But the scientists are hpeful that in the future, this srt f technlgy will allw many paralyzed peple t begin t walk again in just hurs.
31. What's the main functin f the spinal crd?

With the rapid grwth f infrmatin technlgy and ppularity f digital devices, e-bks have played a vital rle in ur daily life.Sme peple hld that electrnic bks are mre necessary than the traditinal bks while thers suppse that the printed bks are much mre imprtant.
What is knwn t all is that e-bks are the prducts f ur new era and we can make full use f them.T begin with,nt nly can readers search fr the bks which they are interested in, they may als read them with ease and speed. In additin, many e-bks aren't available in public libraries, which is an undeniable fact.
Hwever, the printed bks have an essential effect n us. Fr example, it's easier fr readers t take ntes and stre, which can't be realized by electrnic bks.
Frm the abve analysis, we can naturally cme t the cnclusin that bth e-bks and printed bks are necessary in ur sciety. Fr human being, nthing is mre imprtant than t make best use f them.Only when we take advantage f their merits can we nt be the slaves f technlgy.
