Made frm a cmbinatin f plastic and sand, the bricks have a melting pint higher than 350°C and are mre durable than cncrete bricks. Matee and her team surce much f the raw prduct frm factries and recyclers, and smetimes it's free, which allws the cmpany t reduce the price pint n the prduct and make it mre affrdable fr schls and hmewners.

Other drivers, including mtrcyclists, the city' s civil servants, disabled drivers and the trucking industry, all want discunts r exemptins, which might nt be a gd sign.
If dne right, rad pricing culd be expanded beynd Manhattan. New Yrk can learn frm ther cities. Singapre, fr instance, which has had pricing fr decades, adjusts prices regularly. It can als learn frm mistakes. Lndn, which rlled ut its pricing in 2003, is nly starting t charge n-demand car hires like Uber. Stckhlm exempted t many vehicles, which caused a drp in revenues (收入).
Other cities cnsidering rad charges, including Ls Angeles, Philadelphia, Prtland, San Francisc and Seattle, are watching New Yrk. "We really have t make a gd example," says Nicle Gelinas f the Manhattan Institute, a New Yrk think-tank.

Fr eight mnths up t this April, a French bkstre chain had vide in a Paris shp fed t sftware that examines shppers' mvements and facial expressins fr surprise, dissatisfactin, cnfusin r hesitatin. What's mre, cnventinal market research can mislead. Peple typically "edit" respnses t make themselves sund sensible, when purchases are ften driven by subcnscius (潜意识地) emtins. And surveys can als ask the wrng questins - such as hw much peple like a prduct when what really matters is whether, say, it makes them feel attractive.
The ntin f "retail therapy (疗法)", cnsumers driven t spend when they are feeling blue, is an bvius example f shpping's emtinal side. Whichever stre is the first t wrk ut hw t spt mildly depressed custmers culd make big mney.

    34. What is the authr's attitude t Angus.ai's technlgy?
    A. Skeptical. B. Supprtive. C. Tlerant. D. Cnservative.
    35. Why is retail therapy mentined in the last paragraph?
    A. T prve shpping is md-driven. B. T predict the future f physical retail.
    C. T intrduce different types f shppers. D. T explain the drawbacks f vercnsumptin.

I was invited t a ckut n an ld friend’s farm in western Washingtn. I parked my car utside the farm and walked past a milking huse which had apparently nt been used in many years. A nise at a windw caught my attentin, s I entered it. It was a hummingbird (蜂鸟), desperately trying t escape. She was cvered in spider-webs (蛛网) and was barely able t mve her wings. She ceased her struggle the instant I picked her up.
With the bird in my cupped hand, I lked arund t see hw she had gtten in. The brken windw glass was the likely answer. I stuffed a piece f clth int the hle and tk her utside, clsing the dr securely behind me.
When I pened my hand, the bird did nt fly away; she sat lking at me with her bright eyes. I remved the sticky spider-webs that cvered her head and wings. Still, she made n attempt t fly. Perhaps she had been struggling against the windw t lng and was t tired? Or t thirsty?
As I carried her up the blackberry-lined path tward my car where I kept a water bttle, she began t mve. I stpped, and she sn tk wing but did nt immediately fly away.

After encuntering plastic waste alng Nairbi's streets, she decided t quit her jb and created a small lab, testing sand and plastic cmbinatins可知,看到了内罗毕街道上遍布的塑料垃圾,Matee意识到自己所在城市的塑料垃圾问题,于是萌生出了用塑料和沙子制造新式砖的想法。
    26. B。 根据第三段中的the bricks ... are mre durable than cncrete bricks及Matee and her team ... reduce the price pint n the prduct and make it mre affrdable fr schls and hmewners可知,这种新式砖比传统水泥砖更坚固耐用,且由于原料有时可免费获得,其造价也十分低廉。
    27. B。 There is that waste recyclers cannt prcess anymre. That is what we get及But she des nt wrk with plyethylene terephthalate r PET, cmmnly used fr plastic bttles, which can be made int the same frm easily again and again可知,PET瓶子很容易就能回收,而Matee致力于解决难以回收的塑料废品产生的问题,故PET瓶子没有成为Matee所在企业生产新式砖的原料。

    28. A。 New Yrk is amng the slwest cities ... accrding t a reprt published in January ... The average speed is 4.7 miles per hur, nt much quicker than a quick walk可知,这项报告指出,上下班高峰时间,纽约是世界上最慢的城市之一,在市中心开车令人心烦意乱,平均车速为每小时4.7英里,和快步行走差不多。
    29. A。 New Yrkers living in the fee zne ... all want discunts r exemptins, which might nt be a gd sign可知,新规还未正式实施就有很多人要求不交费或少交费,这给该规定的实施带来了一些隐患。
    30. D。 It can als learn frm mistakes. Lndn ... nly starting t charge n-demand car hires like Uber.
A race is n t wrk ut hw best t cllect and use emtins data,一场如何最好地搜集利用情绪数据的竞赛在实体零售商和网络零售商之间展开了。 注:第二段中的be it ...为be型虚拟语气,相当于whether it be ...。
    36. B。设空处上一句中的speaking t a crwd及attempting t redirect a tense meeting均是笑话用于公共场合(B项中的the public stage)的具体例子。
    38. A。 设空处下一句中的cnnect with ther kids at the cafeteria table及start a cnversatin n the schl bus为A项中的build scial relatinships的具体表现。
electrn: a very small piece f matter (= a substance) with a negative electric charge, fund in all atms。

    41. C。42. B。根据Travel is nt a reasnable activity可知,旅行不是一项明智的活动。

    51. D。本句与G ff the beaten path.
    53. A。54. C。根据It's gd、Pltting a trip和Anticipatin is its wn reward可知,此处指的是开始给旅行“制订计划(plan)”吧。

    63. started。
    64. frequency。
    65. be released。 设空处是谓语的一部分,they(指代sea turtles)与release之间是被动关系,且之前有will,故填be released。
