Knwing that the ersin f telmeres can be increased by a number f factrs that can be brught n by stress, such as inflammatin (炎症), the study authrs sught t determine if impatience culd cntribute t this acceleratin. T measure this, the study authrs designed a range f behaviral ecnmic tasks, such as asking participants t chse between receiving $100 immediately r a larger sum in 30 days. By raising and lwering this amunt, the researchers were able t determine each participant‘s minimum acceptable amunt (MAA), meaning the lwest sum f mney they wuld be willing t wait 30 days t receive.
Analyzing their data, the study authrs fund that thse with a higher MAA tended t have shrter telmeres, indicating a negative crrelatin between delay discunting and cellular aging. Interestingly, this effect was far mre prnunced in wmen than in men, leading the researchers t cnclude that, n a cellular level, females may be mre likely t age fast as a result f psychlgical stress and impatience than males.
