Many of us now live in gated communities(封闭式社区). Only people who live there can go freely inside and only their cars can pass through the gates. But are you hoping for a more open and c  69  environment? When gates and walls are gone, everyone can enjoy a city with better traffic, bigger green areas for picnics and more cafes and bookstores to meet your friends.

Turning gated communities into blocks is one way to a 70  this, according to the Chinese government. On February 21, 2016, China said that gated communities should be open to the public.

Open communities have already become p  71  in many foreign cities, like Paris and New York City. There, the roads, shops and green areas are for everyone.

    - 110 -

First, humans need communication and sharing. A good city needs to offer people enough space to do this.

A 72   good change blocks may bring is better traffic in cities. There will be more roads open to the public. And more people may choose to walk rather than drive cars because theydon'tneedtotakealongwaytogetaroundthosegatedcommunities.

However, not everyone likes this idea of open communities. Quite a lot of people say they have s  73   money on the roads inside the communities. There may be too many people and cars coming and going. And they also worry about safety problems when communities are open.

The Chinese government explained that the opening would be carried out(实施) step by step and more detailed p 74   would come out in the future. Also, they have been testing blocks in some areas in Chengdu, Sichuan, and so far it has been working well.

    69. c   72. A   71. p   70. a

    73. s        74. p

    D. Answer the following questions.(6)

You don't need to get in a time-travelling machine to see how technology will change our lives, such as the way we shop. Several new technologies that are to change your buying habits already appear. Let's see what's in store for your future shopping.

Try it on, virtually(虚拟地). Want to shop online for a new pair of glasses? You don't need to guess which pair looks best on you —— use the eBay Fashion iPhone app to try a pair of glasses you're checking out on a picture of your face. But what about buying something bigger? Thanks to Microsoft Kinect's action tracking(跟踪) camera, you can cover clothes on your screen body. You can even choose the background of your virtual fitting room to improve your shopping experience.

Get a perfect, custom fit. Everyone’s body is shaped differently. To get a perfect fit, you sometimes have to get your clothes changed. But by using 3D scanning technology, all the clothes you buy will fit your body perfectly. Some companies scan(扫描) your body using high-tech to get the real sizes, so they can make special clothes just for you.

High-tech shopping carts(推车) and checkout counters(收银台). High-tech shopping carts could be common in malls and supermarkets in the future. Microsoft Kinect-enabled carts are under test. The cart can follow you along the aisles(通道), controlled only by your movement and your voice.

In the United States, several supermarkets use a certain set called“Scan It” that gives buyers the freedom to scan products on their own while they shop. If we don't want to wait in line before the checkout counters, we can use Toshiba's new Object Recognition Scanner.

    - 111 -

The machine identifies(辨认) a product as soon as it's placed in front of a camera just by its shape and colour, even if it has no bar code.

    75. Some new technologies have appeared to change our buying habits, haven't they?

    76. If you want to try your new clothes, what can you do?

                                                        .

    77. How can you get the most accurate shape of your body?

                                                                                                                                                                                                                           -1

    78. According to the text, in what way can the high-tech shopping car t follow you along the aisles?

                                                                                                                                                                               #

    79. With the help of Toshiba’s new Object Recognition Scanner, what don’t we need to do?
