一、教学目标
1. 知识目标
掌握本课的新单词、短语及句型。了解长城,会说关于长城的一句中国谚语。
2. 能力目标
培养学生良好的学习习惯。
3. 情感目标
对学生进行爱国主义教育,培养学生热爱祖国大好河山的感情。
二、教学重点
1. 掌握句型How long is…? It is …long.
2. 掌握Go down this street and turn left at the traffic lights.
3. 学会A Chinese saying: A man who has not climbed the Great Wall is not a true man.
三、教学难点
1. 掌握more than 的用法
2. 理解went ,in an hour.
四、教学准备
1. 让学生课前查找有关长城的知识。
2. 教师制作多媒体课件。
五、教学过程
Step 1 Leading in
Talk with students:
Do you know where Li Ming, Jenny, Danny and Mrs. Li are going?
How do the go there?
Do you want to go to Beijing? Why?
Show some pictures of the places of interest in Beijing and let the students guess what they are. Introduce the title of this lesson.
Step 2 Think about it
1. Show some questions about the Great Wall and ask the students to answer.
What do you know about the Great Wall?
How long is the Great wall?
How old is it?
Have you ever climbed the Great Wall? Do you want to go?
First, make sure all the students can understand the questions. Explain: how long is…? It is …long. Give them some examples.
Lead the students to answer the questions and ask them try using the new expression: about.
2. Ask the students: Do you know a Chinese saying about the Great Wall?
First, ask them to say this sentence in Chinese.
Then show the English sentence and explain it.
Read and repeat.
Ask some volunteers to recite this sentence. Have a competition.
Show a picture of Chair Mao at the Great Wall. Ask the students: Is he a true man? Are you true men?
Step 3 Listen and answer
1. Show some questions to the students.
How will they go to the Great Wall?
Which bus will they take to the Great Wall?
Can you show the way to the bus station? What is the way?
How do they go to the bus station?
2. Play the audiotape and ask the students to listen carefully.
3. Pick some students out to answer the questions. Explain how to show ways and show some useful phrases.
Step 4 Read and comprehension
1. Lead the students to understand the dialogue sentence by sentence. Explain: went, in an hour.
2. Ask the students to read the dialogue together. But before that, make sure the students can pronounce the words in this lesson correctly.
3. Role-play.
Step 5 Sum up
1. Let the students close their books. Ask them to say what they learned in this lesson. Ask some volunteers to write on the blackboard.
2. Do some exercises.
Step 6 Homework
1. Finish off the exercise book.
2. Practise the dialogue.
3. Preview Lesson11.
