    Sara knew this day was going to come. She had been worrying about it for two weeks. It started after her teacher explained the project. It was an oral presentation (演示) for science.

    In our daily life, you want to be able to hold a good conversation (谈话). And what comes next is very important.

    Introducing each other is a great way to begin a conversation, like the one above, is a great way to begin. When you introduce yourself, be confident and comfortable. That will make others comfortable, too. After the introduction, wait a bit. If the other person doesn't ask a question, you make one. Starting with a question shows interest in the other person. You could ask, "What do you do?" or "How do you know our host?" But asking something a little different sets you apart. "What did you do last weekend? " or "Have you seen any good movies recently? " are two topics you could ask about. Another good way to start is "Tell me about yourself. "Most people love talking about themselves.

    As the other person begins to answer your question, look for common interests. If you ask about last weekend, the person could talk about a bike ride they took. When the person finishes their talking, you could share an experience you had with biking. Then you can discuss other sports the person may be interested in.

    When the other person is talking, it is very important to be interested in them. Listen carefully to their answers. Don't allow your eyes to look around the room. That gives the other person the message that you are not really interested in them. On the flip side, if you are answering the question, don't go on and on. Answer the question and then stop. A good conversation is like a tennis game where the ball goes back and forth.

    With some practice, you'll be able to start and keep a conversation going with anyone!

    You might be looking for new ways to improve your understanding of something. One way to help you is to try teaching.

    Experts have been interested in the link between teaching and learning for quite some time. In the 1980s, Jean-Pol Martin, a French teacher in Germany, developed a way of teaching that asked students to teach each other. Martin taught language classes, but he went on to use his "Learning by Teaching" method (方法) in other subjects as well.

    A 2013 study also found that teaching had a strong effect (影响) on understanding and learning. An important part of the study compared the learning results of people who actually taught a lesson to those who simply prepared but did not teach. "These findings show that when students actually teach the lesson, they develop a deeper understanding. " the experts wrote.

    Experts have also studied the question of why teaching improves learning. A 2018 study shows that teaching may help your learning because you have to remember the information you have learned. Experts call this "retrieval." Retrieval is the act of trying to recall (回忆起) information without having it in front of you. The basic idea is that if you want to improve your memory of what you have learned, you have to practice remembering that information. While retrieval may be one reason that teaching helps learning, there could be other reasons.

    There are many ways that you can improve your learning by teaching. One way might be to teach your family or friends about something that you are learning. Another idea is to imagine yourself describing a lesson to someone. A final idea is to record a video of yourself teaching information, then send the lesson to friends or put it on some social medias.
