Do you ever hear the sound of a hummingbird(蜂鸟)? It makes a humming(嗡嗡声的) noise when flying. The bird makes this noise because it moves its wings(翅膀) very fast. That’s why we call it hummingbird.

On 20th June, 1702, I set off for Surat, on a ship called the Adventure(冒险). And indeed “adventure” was an appropriate name for that ship, and for everything that happened on that journey.
The first part of our journey went well. But later there were some terrible storms. The winds were so strong that they sent our ship off course(航线). We didn’t know  ▲ .
