             A Letter of Appeal

Dear schoolmates,

The planet we live on is suffering a lot due to pollution resulting from human activities. The student union is going to hold an activity themed “Wiping away the tears of the earth” on World Earth Day.

As citizens of the earth, all of us should be actively involved. Firstly, we can distribute posters with slogans to passers-by to attract their attention. Secondly, playing videos about natural disasters is a good way to make people realize the importance of protecting the environment.

Many hands make light work. Join us and take action!

 When Allen became conscious (苏醒), he found himself caught in the dark. He lay on his stomach, trying to move. However, his left leg had been twisted and couldn’t move at all. He realized to his horror that he was buried alive. “Lucy! Lucy!” he called out. but there was no response. In fact, he could not hear anything. The whole world was in dead silence. Waves of despair washed over him. He asked himself again and again,”Who is going to save me?”                                                                                           

It was not until the next morning that the rescuers finally arrived. Without hesitation, they started searching for survivors. They soon discovered signs of life beneath the hotel. It took a great effort to remove the thick snow before they began cutting into the roof. With an opening made, they carefully lowered themselves down into the hotel. Once they were inside, they heard a weak voice crying for help. It was Allen. He and his wife were rescued, along with all the other survivors. The couple felt lucky to be alive!

（一）应用文评分标准

应用文总分是15分。评分时，先根据文章的内容和语言确定其所属档次，然后以该档次的要求来评分。一般分为五档：第五档（13~15分），第四档（10~12分），第三档（7~9分），第二档（4~6分），第一档（1~3分）。

(二) 读后续写各档次的给分范围和要求：

1、基本思路

   第一段: Allen 醒来时发现周围一片漆黑→他想动一动，但发现自己的腿受伤了→他意识到自己被埋在了废墟之下(惊恐)→呼喊着妻子的名字，但没有回应(担忧)→不知道自己是否能够获救(绝望)

第二段:第二天早上救援人员到达现场他们开始搜寻幸存者，发现了废墟下面有生命迹象→他们清理积雪，打开了一个通往下面的缺口→他们顺着求救声找到了Allen→获救并与妻子团聚(庆幸)

2、评分原则

（1）本题按5个档次给分。

（2）评分时，先根据所续写短文的内容和语言初步确定其所属档次，然后以该档次的要求来衡量确定或调整档次，最后给分。

（3）词数少于130的，从总分中减去2分。

（4）评分时，应主要从以下四个方面考虑：

① 与所给短文及段落开头语的衔接程度；

② 内容的丰富性；

③ 应用语法结构和词汇的丰富性和准确性；

④ 上下文的连贯性。

（5）语言形式错误分为大错和小错。大错包括“时态、语态、主谓一致、句子结构等”，小错包括“单词拼写错误、小品词用法错误”等，两到三个小错可等同于一个大错。

（6）拼写与标点符号是语言准确性的重要方面，评分时，应视其对交际的影响程度予以考虑。

（7）如书写较差以致影响交际，可将分数降低一个档次。

W: Yeah. And we need to book a restaurant.

M: I’ll do it. You’d better rest.

W: Liz took a taxi to her office today.

M: Yes. Her friend Ted usually drives her to the office but now he is out of town on business.

W: I’ll go to an evening school to improve my spoken English this summer vacation. What’s your plan, Tom?

M: My spoken English is also very poor. But Id like to review it myself. I’ll go to the countryside to see my grandpa with my parents.

M: As a matter of fact, I’ve had just enough of the food there.

W: Oh, they’re nice. I like the lighting, and the service is nice, too.

M: I’m looking for a light sweater to exercise in. Do you have anything like that?

W: Of course. What about these ones? They are in the latest style.

M: Well, they look nice, but I don’t like the material. I want a cotton one. Wow! These are cool. Do they come in any other colors?

W: The brown and grey sweaters were very popular but they were sold out.

M: Oh, well, I guess blue is OK. I’ll take it.

M: I bought it a couple of months ago. It’s stopped working. I think the screen’s... kind of, if I touch one area...

W: So you have problems with the screen on this notebook computer. We’ve got repair centers, but not in our store. I can book in for repair, which you don’t need to pay for. It usually takes two or three weeks’  time. I’ll make a phone call to you when it is OK.

M: That’s fine. Can I borrow a computer from you for the time being?

W: OK. You can use this one. As soon as your computer is fixed, you must bring it back.

M: Yeah, thank you.

W: There, so it’s all done. Um, you need to sign on this form, please.

W: Hello, this is Susan. How’s it going today?

M: Good. The store is busier than last week.

W: Right. But I think there are some big problems. The sales are lower than we wanted.

M: Yes, I know.

W: I’ve put off my business trip to Los Angeles. I’d like to come and see things in Chicago for myself next week. Is Tuesday OK?

M: Yes, of course.

W: I can get the early flight from New York. I’ll get a taxi from the airport, so you don’t need to pick me up in a car, and I’ll be with you around 12:00.

M: OK.

W: I want to spend two or three days in the store talking to salespeople and customers. So can you book a hotel for me for two nights—Tuesday night and Wednesday night? Somewhere in the center of Chicago?

M: OK. I’ll ask my secretary to do that.

W: Thanks, Harry. See you next week.

W: It’s about the book review you’ve asked us to write as part of the Writing course.

M: OK. I think you’ve chosen the book you want to write about.

W: Yes.

M: Good. Now let’s get started. If we talk it through and you make notes on it, it’ll help you to organize your review. First of all, what’s the name of the book?

W: The Human Mind.

M: So you should start your review with the title and the author. What group would you put this book in? For example, history, math...

W: Well, I suppose it’s popular science.

M: What is the theme of it?

W: Well, it looks briefly at some of the theories that have been developed about the brain.

M: Well, you should add that into your review, and don’t forget to mention the strengths and weaknesses of the book.

W: I see. One more question. The review should be handed in on February 13th. Can I hand it in two days later?

M: That will be fine.

M: I remember very well the night I went to a party in town but had to spend six hours getting five kilometers back home. It was my friend’s dance party. The weather was fine when we left for the party and it only took us twenty minutes to get to the party by car. We had a great time at the party. Every now and then someone would arrive and tell us the weather was getting worse. We just kept on partying—we weren’t interested in what was happening outside. Then, around 2:30 a.m., it was time to go home. We couldn’t believe it when we got outside. Everything was covered with snow. There were no buses or taxis on the road. Where was the car? Luckily we had parked near the disco, so we followed the walls around to the back and went from car to car, looking for ours. Finally, we found it. My brother drove. I had to walk in front of the car, all the way home, following the side of the road. It was a good thing that I knew the way very well.
