Most people want to be happy, but few know how to find happiness. Money and success alone do not bring lasting(持续的) happiness. Aristotle said, “Happiness depends on ourselves.” In other words, we make our own happiness. Here are some pieces of advice to help you be happier.
Enjoying simple things in life is meaningful. People often spend so much time thinking about the future — like getting into college or getting a good job — that they forget to enjoy the present(现在). You should have fun doing simple things, such as reading an interesting book or spending time with close friends. People having several close friends often live better.
Another way to live a happy life is to be active(活跃的) and have hobbies. Many people experience this by dancing or playing sports. You can forget about your problems and only think about the activity.
Finally, many people find happiness in helping others. Studies show that people feel good when they spend their time helping others. If you want to feel happier, do good things for someone. You can help a friend with his or her studies, go shopping to buy food for the old people, or simply help with housework.

( )62. The underlined sentence is to explain the meaning of happiness.

After having spent the first quarter of our lives building up our friendship circle, we have most friends at the age of 26,a new study has said recently.
The study about friendship shows that our social circle gets to the top at 26 years and 7 months. At that time, we usually have five close friends. Women are most popular at 25 years and 10 months while men hitting the highest friendship point a little later at 27 years and 3 months. The study, by Forever Friends, shows that about a third of grown-ups meet their closest friends when at school. But about a fifth say they meet them at work.
Social networks such as Facebook and Twitter now also play an important role in building new friendship. The study points out that 25 to 34-year-olds make 22 friends on Facebook. However, 18 to 24-year-olds make 12 and 35 to 44-year-olds make just 4.
Forever Friends’ relationship coach Sam Owen says, “It is not surprising that over a third of us meet our best friends at school. It is a key time in our lives when friendship is growing through sharing notes, giving gifts, seeing each other regularly and laughing a lot. As grown-ups, we can often forget how powerful these small things are and how the little things can make a difference.”
Later in life we find ourselves losing friends. Over half of us lose friendship through moving, while 36% say that over time they grow apart from close pals. Having children also causes 19% to be away from childhood friends.
With growing pressure on friendship these days, it's important to make time for our friendship.

Several months ago, a couple left their job and sold everything in their home to travel around the world with their 13-year-old daughter. And the girl left school to travel with her parents. Will you stop studying to travel like the girl? Here are some students’ opinions.
Wang Le, 14, from Zhejiang:
I think it is a really good way to practice our communication skills by speaking English. If we travel with our parents around the world, we have to talk to others, especially in English. And there are not so many chances for that at school. So I think we should travel like them.
Zhang Qiwen, 14, from Jiangsu:
I will travel with my parents. Why do we study? We go to school to learn more about the world. If we have a better way to learn about it, why don’t we do it? We can see lots of amazing things when we travel around the world with our parents. Having classes at school is boring and useless. I like traveling better.
Zhang Yuxi, 15, from Shanghai:
It is too dangerous to stop studying to travel. Our parents can’t make sure that they know everything. There are lots of dangers in a completely strange environment. We can’t take the risk of putting ourselves in danger. If we do, we’ll be really foolish.
Wang Quan, 14, from Beijing:
I think we have enough time to study at school as well as do some traveling. We need to study at school because it makes sure that we won’t fall behind our peers (同龄人). And we can also travel in the summer or winter holidays. It helps us to broaden our horizon(拓宽视野) and learn things not in books. But I don’t think it is a good idea to stop studying to travel.
Will you stop studying to travel?

Wang Le
