“There are waves rushing across the sea. There are ships sailing underthe sails on the middle of the sea.All through the spring has been filled with a rich and poetic atmosphere.”It'sa beautiful poem that was writtenin several seconds byChatGPT. It is a powerful AI chatbot that can give you an answer to just about any question you have. It'sas if you could have a conversation with Google,a tool to search for information.
New things always bring benefits for all walks of life.We can get information supported by thousands of webpages, with the information in a simple language.ChatGPT can also help people who are poor at foreign languages communicate effectively. In addition, using it as a teaching tool can help teachers save time. For example, Chat GPT provides teaching ideas and activities for classes.Another fun way is to ask for cooking ideas with the ingredients*you have on hand. When used in this way,Chat GPT can be a great tool to make the world closer and better!
Chat GPT is amazing, but it causes worries. For thousands of years, students have been required to find information from books and the internet now.It requires a level of effort.Students who work hard usually get rewards*and can see lots of different information. With ChatGPT,finding information becomes much easier than using the internet or a book.It could make cheating much easier, and make students feel their hard work isn't rewarded.
ChatGPT also presents other problems.Nowadays, there are millions of people around the world working in the‘knowledge economy*’.It may have influence on people, such as translators, scientist, teachers and writers.Because Chat GPT helps people get information easily, these jobs could become much easier. It may lead in the result that, as their skills are no longer something companies need.

While many people are going to beaches in California, Hawaii or Florida for sunny trips during the winter, a remote hotel called the Sheldon Chalet has something else to offer.
The hotel is in Ruth Glacier Alaska, US. It’s 1,829m above sea level, and lies in the mountains of the Denali National Park. People can only get there by air, flying over trees, cabins and moose below in about 45 minutes.
The Sheldon Chalet is named after the father of two of the hotel’s owners, Robert and Kate Sheldon, whose parents designed the original hotel in 1966. Although it began to be built in 2018, it was only recently completed. Kate said, “Building this hotel was a challenge. The simple things in life, like running water, are actually quite a luxury when you’re 6,000 feet up on a glacier.”
The hexagonal structure has a main floor with a kitchen and living room and a second floor with five bedrooms for guests. The hotel can carry up to ten people at any given time. The 3-night stay costs $35000 per couple, including flight service, a private doorkeeper and fine dining. And the stay offers amazing snow-covered views during the day, and the northern lights at night. The opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics was held in Beijing on Friday night, February 4th. Social media users described it with these words: amazing, glittering and dazzling.
The main stage of the ceremony in the National Stadium, commonly known as the Bird’s Nest, is designed to be like a huge Chinese character “Zhong”, covering almost the whole stage. In fact, it is the world’s largest ground LED screen. The screen, with a size of 10,552 square meters, was actually made up of about 42,000 small LED modules. The supersized ground screen, together with a 10-meter-high vertical screen, allowed the audience to have a wonderful experience.
To build such a big ground LED screen wasn’t an easy task. As the main stage, on which all performances and the Parade of Nations took place, it had to be wear-resistant, water-proof, electrically safe and able to support heavy weights. What was more challenging, as the stadium is open-air, the ground screen had to be able to support the winter freezing temperature, as well as weather like rain and snow. To solve all the challenges, technicians built a special protective covering for it.
With the help of AI, 5G, AR and naked-eye 3D technologies from the company CALA, which once offered them to the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics opening ceremony, the ceremony presented many amazing moments. The most unforgettable moment is when the Olympic Rings were “carved out” of a 3D cube shaped like a block of ice on the screen. Another great point is that children sang and danced across the stage, when stars appeared on the screen under their feet.
Thanks to the screens, creative ideas and high technologies, the two-hour ceremony only needed around 3,000 excellent performers, compared with 15,000 during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics opening ceremony. It greatly meets the theme of energy saving.
Thomas Bach, the president of IOC believed that the 2022 Olympic Winter Games would be “in safe hands” when Beijing won the bid in 2015. The amazing ceremony showed the world that China has kept its promise of hosting a fantastic event with strong determination and confidence.
    33. The main stage is ________.
    A. the largest vertical LED screen B. similar to “Zhong” in Chinese
    C. covering the edge of the stadium D. about 10,552 meters in height
    34. The underlined word “them” refers to ________.

Buck’s first day in the frozen Northland was terrible. Every hour there was filled with shock and frightening surprise. Here was neither peace, nor rest, nor a moment’s safety—only endless noise and movement. And every minute there was danger, because these dogs and men were not town dogs and men. They knew only the law of club and tooth.
Buck had never seen dogs fight like these dogs: they were like wolves. He learnt this from his friend, Curly. She tried to make friends with a big dog. But without warning, the dog jumped on Curly. Curly’s face was torn open from eye to mouth. And the fight did not finish then. More dogs ran up and made a circle around the fight, watching silently. Curly tried to attack the dog who had bitten her. He bit her a second time, and jumped away. When Curly tried to attack again, he knocked her backwards. And she fell on the ground. Curly never stood up, because this was what the other dogs were waiting for. In a moment, she was under a crowd of dogs. Then Francois and other men with clubs jumped in among the dogs. Soon the dogs were chased away. But Curly lay dead in the snow, her body torn almost to pieces. Curly’s death often came back to Buck in his dreams. He understood that once a dog was down on the ground, he was dead.
That night Buck discovered a problem. Where was he going to sleep? He found Francois was in the tent. Buck followed him quietly. But when he went in and wanted to sleep in the corner, Francois shouted angrily and beat him with a club. Buck ran out and walked around the tent, very, very cold, wondering what to do. Suddenly, the snow under his feet fell in. There, something was moving under the snow.
So he knew what he could do. ▲ . He slept well, although his dreams were bad.
In the north, Buck was learning the law of club and tooth. He learnt to eat any food—anything that he could get his teeth into. He learnt to break the ice on water holes with his feet when he wanted to drink. He learnt to travel through the forest and kill for meat with wild dogs. He was stronger, and could see and smell better than ever before. It was easy for him to learn to fight like a wolf, because it was in his blood.
    37. Curly’s death made Buck realize ________ in the north.
①how terrible the new life was ② the secret of winning a fantastic friend
③how dangerous the men were ④ the importance of fighting like wolves
    A. ①② B. ②③ C. ①④ D. ③④
    38. Which of the following can be put in ________.
    A. Buck ran into the tent secretly and rested in the corner.
    B. Buck dug himself a hole and soon was warm and asleep.
    C. Buck walked around the tent, shouting from time to time.
    D. Buck lay on the snow and finally fell asleep, nearly frozen.
    39. What’s the best title for the passage?
    A. The way to be wild B. A cold world for animals
    C. The days that used to be D. A clever dog from the south
    40. What made Buck learn to fight like a wolf?(请用约40词回答)

Smartphones have become basic part of our daily lives. According to a 2020 report by the China Internet Network Information Center, China had 175 million Internet users under the age of 18 in 2019, with 74 percent having their own smartphones. “This is worrying, as long-time use of smartphones harms children’s eyesight, cervical vertebra and even the brain,” reported the World Health Organization.
On Feb 19, 2021, the Ministry of Education released a notice that asked all local primary and middle schools to include rules about smartphone usage at school management. Many schools have taken rules to limit students’ phone use at school.
Zhou Dandan, an English teacher at Beijing No. 20 High School, noticed that many students were crazy with their phones. Some even played games on them in classes. Zhou said that most students lacked self-management. Spending too much time on the phone will distract them and prevent them from learning, she added.
Liu Yanping, headmaster of First Branch of Beijing National Day School, thought every coin has two sides. So it was unwise to take a “one size fits all approach”. “You can’t simply cut students off from the Internet in the digital world,” Liu said.
Chen Xue, a parent from Wenzhou, allowed her daughter to take her phone to school. Chen said it was more important to improve kids’ ability to self-management and developed good habits of phone usage.
Xu He, a 13-year old from Zhejiang, supports the policy. “In fact, my school has never allowed us to bring our mobile phones,” Xu said. “It’s a distraction from our work. Even adults can’t control themselves, let alone kids like us. “However, the 14-year old Ge Ziqi who uses a bike-sharing app every day to go between her home and school said, “If I can’t take my phone with me, I’ll have to buy my own bicycle.”

2021 two sessions have included several important topics, such as food waste and wildlife protection. Artificial intelligence (AI) which is influencing our lives in every way is in one of them.People are no longer unfamiliar with AI. It has already been used to do housework, develop medicine, recognize faces, and so on. Now a new painter is ready to join the list.
Next month, auction house Christie’s Prints and Multiples will make history by offering the first painting created by AI for sale. The painting is a picture of a man called Edmond de Belamy, and is expected to be sold for up to $10,000. The work was created by software developed by the French art group Obvious. It shows a man with a mysterious look on his face. Laugero-Lasserre, an art collector from France, called the work fantastic and amazing at the same time. This isn’t the first example of Al-produced artwork, as AI has already been used to write poems and songs. However, many people doubt whether it should be called art at all. “According to Russian writer Leo Tolstroy (1828~1910), art is about creating emotion. It’s a mean of joining people together in the same feelings,” he once said.
What is the emotion behind art? How to put the emotion into art? As we all know, the ability to create and use tools is what makes human beings different from other species. People always create works with all kinds of emotions, happy or upset, excited or disappointed. Several designers have made a lot of effort to create the paintings by the AI technology. Together, they “fed” the AI with a huge collection of paintings from the 14th to the 18th centuries, until it was able to work out how to make similar paintings of its own.
The introduction of AI art could be the beginning of a new artistic movement. However, not everyone is ready to welcome these high-tech artists yet.
33.In the first paragraph, the writer wants to ________.

C.show a well-known painter to us D.introduce a new topic and cause interest

C.An art collector thought badly of the work.
D.AI hasn’t created paintings before the sale.
35.How did the designers make AI create paintings?
A.They let AI practice repeatedly. B.They put a lot of paintings into AI.
C.They let AI watch famous paintings. D.They invited an artist to operate AI.

To help his friend Bassanio marry Portia, Antonia, who always offered money to others without any interest, asked a moneylender for help Shylock, whose daughter had elope with her husband because of Antonia’s help, agreed to lend money to Antonia with one condition—if he couldn’t pay back on time, he would take a pound of flesh from any part of his body. Unluckily, Antonia had trouble in his business and wasn’t able to pay the money back on time. In the end, they came to the courtroom.
The day finally came. The famous lawyer Bellario got ill and could’t be present at the courtroom. He wrote a letter to the judge to ask Portia to be Antonia’s lawyer instead.
As the trial began, the room grew quiet. Portia came in with Antonia, she spoke to Shylock first.
“Why don’t you just allow Antonia to pay you back?”
“It’s too late for that now. I don't want money, I don’t want any interest. I want a pound of flesh. Read the deal. It says that I can take the pound of flesh from any place nearest to his heart.” Shylock’s laughter went around the whole room.
“Antonia, you must get ready to die then.” said Portia Everybody in the crowd hold his breath. They couldn’t believe what they were hearing. Shylock picked up his sharp knife. It was bright and shiny. The moneylender had an evil look in his eyes.
“Come here,” he said to Antonia. “Just a minute.” said Portia, “There is another thing I need to tell you. ________, otherwise you will break the law. The judge will take all of your money and land. Do you understand?”
Shylock didn’t know what to say. Everything had changed. He couldn’t get his revenge now. His face turned red with anger. Everyone was impressed with the young lawyer. She used the terms in the deal to save Antonia. Just as the deal said, there was no mention of blood in it. Shylock couldn’t take any blood. Therefore, he couldn’t take any flesh, either.
The people in the courtroom clapped their hands. “Hooray for Portia! Hooray for Antonial!”
