More Heavy Load
China’s Long March 8 launched (发射) 22 satellites (卫星) into orbit (轨道). It set a record for the most satellites ever launched by a Chinese rocket. Before it, the Chinese record for the most satellites launched by one rocket was the first flight of the Long March 6. The world record is held by SpaceX’s Falcon 9, which carried 143 satellites.
The Second Space Class

Having worked in a nature reserve (保护区) for 30 years, Hou Tiguo has developed a special ability—he can tell what kind of birds are around simply by their saying. “I can also tell whether they are happy or unhappy,” he added with a big smile.
The 52-year-old’s home, Baihualing, a village in Yunnan province, is well-known for different kinds of birds. He recalled, “In the 1970s, people were so poor. Birds were often targeted as food, so almost all the children including me in the village were good at using slingshots (弹弓).”
His life changed in 1989, when a couple hiking through the mountains visited Baihualing. They asked him to be their guide and lead them to good bird-watching spots. He said, “That was the first time I had made money from birds without killing them.”
Inspired by that, the villagers built a reserve to feed birds and protect the living places of birds. In the following ten years, more bird-watchers visited the village. The village became a popular choice for bird lovers, and most villagers have turned into bird protectors and took part in serving bird-loving tourists.
In the village, there are more than 60 “bird guides” like Hou. More than 20 guesthouses which have hosted visitors from more than 100 countries bring in a total income of 1. 5 million yuan every year. “During the peak season, I serve nearly 100 tourists a day. When William Flaherty was 3, he was diagnosed (诊断) with HLH. It’s a serious illness which easily causes death. The doctor gave William 9.5 (on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 is you’re super healthy and 10 is you’re dead), which hit the family. There were days when they didn’t know if he would live through.

All for masks
During the outbreak, medical supplies (供应) such as masks are needed by many. To increase (增加) production, over 3,000 Chinese companies have changed their production lines (生产线) to make medical equipment. For example, a company that used to make clothes spent 55 hours changing their production lines and is now able to make 1,200 protective medical suits (医疗防护服) every day. Sharing employees
The idea of“sharing workers (共享员工)”has become popular during the outbreak. As most people are staying at home, many workers in restaurants, cinemas and shopping malls have no work and are not getting paid. Meanwhile, online orders of groceries (食品杂货) and medical supplies grow, leaving e-business platforms (平台) such as JD．com and Freshhema shorthanded (人手短缺). As a result, many unemployed people have started to look for part-time jobs. As of Feb 10, over 1,800 workers had started their new short-term jobs as delivery (送货) workers with Freshhema, Xinhua reported. Amazing speed
In cities like Wuhan that have large numbers of infected (被感染的) people, more hospital beds are needed. The quickest way to solve this problem is to build makeshift (临时的) hospitals.
On Jan 23 and 25, respectively (分别地), the government decided to build Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan. More than 4,000 workers worked 24/7 in two shifts (轮班), and nearly 1,000 pieces of large equipment and transport vehicles (运输车辆) helped them build the hospitals.
Within less than 15 days, the two hospitals were finished. They provide about 2,600 beds. The amazing speed impressed many people around the world.

A heavy storm lasted all night, and then everything became peaceful the next morning: blue skies, warm air and a calm, inviting sea touching the shore gently. Dad invited me to go with him for fishing. I decided to go, though fishing had never been my thing.

Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a panoramic(全景的) view of the blue sea, white buildings and green olive trees, I paused to catch my breath and then decided to take the best photo of this panorama.

A bedroom, after all, is a very private space, in which some woman I don’t even know has been immortalized(使……永存). In some ways, she lives in my house.
Perhaps we all live in each other’s space. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, for something that is greater than us.

Meanwhile, online orders of groceries (食品杂货) and medical supplies grow, leaving e-business platforms (平台) such as JD．com and Freshhema shorthanded (人手短缺). As a result, many unemployed people have started to look for part-time jobs. As of Feb 10, over 1,800 workers had started their new short-term jobs as delivery (送货) workers with Freshhema, Xinhua reported. The local government of the Shanghai Pudong New District even set up a platform for workers and companies to find each other.
Amazing speed
In cities like Wuhan that have large numbers of infected (被感染的) people, more hospital beds are needed. The quickest way to solve this problem is to build makeshift (临时的) hospitals.
On Jan 23 and 25, respectively (分别地), the government decided to build Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan. More than 4,000 workers worked 24/7 in two shifts (轮班), and nearly 1,000 pieces of large equipment and transport vehicles (运输车辆) helped them build the hospitals.
Within less than 15 days, the two hospitals were finished. They provide about 2,600 beds. The amazing speed impressed many people around the world.
“China has a record of getting things done fast even for monumental projects (大型项目) like this,” said Yanzhong Huang, a senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations.

A heavy storm lasted all night, and then everything became peaceful the next morning: blue skies, warm air and a calm, inviting sea touching the shore gently. Dad invited me to go with him for fishing. I decided to go, though fishing had never been my thing.

At this point, my father moved our boat, headed it towards the baby whale, and pushed it gently. With our several gentle pushes, the big hump turned over and disappeared under water. It swam up right beside its mom now! Then they struggled in their desperate attempts to escape, but missed the exit and started heading in the wrong direction. So we tried to guide them towards the bay channel. Gradually, they let us lead them, sometimes rising from the water right beside us to breathe.
As soon as they hit their first part of clean water from the sea, off they swam into the distance. Before they left, the mother whale made a wave with her tail, giving us a trusting look in those huge eyes!
Till today, I always look back fondly to that golden day at sea. We had been with those wonderful animals for almost two hours.

Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a panoramic(全景的) view of the blue sea, white buildings and green olive trees, I paused to catch my breath and then decided to take the best photo of this panorama.

A bedroom, after all, is a very private space, in which some woman I don’t even know has been immortalized(使……永存). In some ways, she lives in my house.
