“Mayday！We got Mayday！”Frank Pisano screamed over the micro-phone to the air control tower at John Wayne Airport last June．One of the two engines on his 1975 Cessna had failed，and he was now on a collision course with one of the busiest highways in America-Interstate 405，just south ofLos Angeles-and there was no stopping it．
Driving south on the 405，near the airport’s runway，was John Meffert．A fire department captain，Meffert，47，was heading home from his shift．Then a low-flying plane caught his eye．After he took a second glance，a thought crossed his mind: ”This plane’s going to hit me，”Meffert told Fox8．
He was right．The plane knocked into the center highway，popped up a few feet，and then hit the front of Meffert’s SUV．It finally stopped after hitting the divider on the southbound side．Meffertpulled over．He was unhurt，so he turned his attention to the plane．He ran toward the smoke billowing from it--and then he saw Frank’s wife，Janan Pisano，pop her head up on the passenger side．
By the time Meffert reached the aircraft，part of the fuselage(机身)was on fire and Janan，who was covered in blood，was on the wing trying to pull her husband from the wreck．Meffert，afraid the plane would explode，guided her to safety behind it．At this point，traffic had come to a stop，and two nurses jumped out of their cars to help lead Janan farther away as Meffert ran back for the pilot．

The same trend goes in the high-end product as well．If it will make their pets happier，there’s a group of owners who will buy it．And that includes relatively expensive luxury products．A new brand of kitty litter(猫砂)changes color based on a cat’s urine pH levels and the company claims that the product helps cat owners detect illness in their cats．
It seems that anything humans need，pets need．So，perhaps it’s not surprising that pet insurance is on the rise．The global pet insurance market size was estimated at $3．8 billion in 2019 and is expected to reach $4．4 billion in 2020 according to Grand View Research．Even Lemonade，the AI-powered insurer recently launched its own pet insurance coverage．

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is an amusement park with rides and games located right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean．Santa Cruz has been known as a university town and a surfing community since at least 1960．Founded in 1907，it was the first theme park of its kind in California．The most famous ride is called the Giant Dipper，a fast ride made of wood that climbs to 70 feet in the air．Many newer rides have bright lights and modern sound effects，but ever since it was finished in 1924，the Giant Dipper has been the symbol of the park．Other popular attractions include a castle，water rides，and little cars that kids can drive on a special electric track．There is also a mini golf course，sports games，and a huge video game area that looks like a palace in the sky．Hot dogs，hamburgers，ice cream，and cakes of all shapes and sizes give the boardwalk a special feel all year round．Although the park is free to enter，the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk does charge for rides and nearby parking．
