At the championship last weekend, he won all the gold medals in the 100-105 years category (类别). That is because there were no other competitors in that age range.
"Getting into sports made me strong and well. As well as this, exercising helps improve your appetite so you eat well too, "Sawang says when asked about the secret to his long life.
Sawang walks with his 70-year-old daughter, Siripan, every day. He does simple jobs around the house like cleaning the fallen leaves in their garden, But the 102-vear-old became more active as he prepared for the games. As Thailand's society ages, the number of competitors in the senior category has grown, says Viwat, president of Asia Masters Athletics.
When the Thailand Master Athletes Championships started in 1996, there were only about 300 competitors. Today, there are over 2, 000 from 35 to 102 years of age. Marilla, walking home one late April evening, realized that the winter was over and gone.
It did not matter how old she was, this thought still made her happy. She thought of the fire going and a table nicely spread for tea, and she felt happy that Anne was home to do these things. But when she entered her kitchen and found the fire dark, with no sign of Anne, she was very disappointed and angry.
Marilla made the tea herself. It was dark and still no sign of Anne. Marilla went to light the candle in Anne's room and saw the girl lying on the bed face down.
"Please, Marilla, go away and don't look at me, "said a small voice. "Anne Shirley, whatever is the matter with you? What have you done?" "Look at my hair, Marilla, "she whispered.
Marilla lifted her candle and looked at Anne's hair, which ran all down her back. It looked strange. "Anne Shirley, what have you done to your hair? Why, it's green!"
"Yes, it's green, "groaned Anne. "I thought nothing could be as bad as red hair. But now Iknow it's ten times worse to have green hair. "
"How did this happen?"
"I dyed(染发)it. I knew it was a bad thing to do, "said Anne. "But I didn't mean to dye it green Marilla. He said it would turn my hair a beautiful black. "
"Who said? Who are you talking about?"
"The man from Germany did. He came this afternoon, and I bought the dye from him. "Anne's unhappiness continued for a week. During that time, she went nowhere and washed her hair every day. Nothing worked.
At the end of the week, Marilla said, "It's no use, Anne. Your hair must be cut off. You can't go out with it looking like that. ""
And then Marilla cut almost all of Anne's hair off
Everybody talked about Anne in school on Monday. But to her relief, nobody guessed the real reason for her new haircut.

"Hello, everyone! Welcome to Tiangong Class. "With this greeting, a special lecture(演讲)began on Tiangong space station about 400 kilometers above Earth on Dec. 9", 2021.
Lasting for about an hour, the space lecture was broadcast live to millions of students. Three astronauts from the Shenzhou XIII crew-ZhaiZhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu-hosted the lecture, showing how they live and work on the space station and conducting some interesting experiments that can only be done in space.
This is the second live space lecture in China. In 2013, with the assistance of two other members, Wang delivered the country's first live space lecture to over 60 million schoolchildren across China
Compared with the class eight years ago, this year's space lecture is greatly different. The "classroom" is bigger. Instead of Tiangong I experimental module, this year Wang delivered the space lecture in the Tianhe space core module, which is the biggest spacecraft developed by China.
The quality of space to ground interaction(互动)and communication is also much improved. The space lecture eight years ago sometimes faced the challenges of the video freezing and an unclear picture, but this year's lecture is different. With the help of China's Tianlian relay satellites. the transmission speed has been highly increased and the whole live broadcast has run smoothly.
Along with the technological progress, this year's space lecture discussed more disciplines of science. Eight years ago, Wang showed students the laws of physics and focused on the interesting phenomenon of weightlessness(失重现象)in space. But this year, biology was added. The astronauts compared the growth and shape of cells(细胞)in artificial gravity and zero gravity, so as to study their changing rules and mechanisms.
Though these space lectures showed various topics, ▲ "The spirit of science in the youth is an important driver of the progress of mankind, " Zhou Jianping, designer-in-chief of China's manned space program, added. "Space activities can help them build the spirit of exploration and facing challenges. "
42. This year's space lecture has the same ___________as that in 2013.
A. topic B. length C. aim D. subject
43. Based on the passage, which of the following statements is TRUE?
A. Children can learn about biology instead of physics this year.
B. The space class encourages all citizens to have the spirit of science.
C. The space station is so far that students can't see or hear clearly.
D. The quality of this year's live broadcast has been improved greatly.
44. Which of the following is the most suitable for _______▲________ in the last paragraph?
A. the aim behind the lectures has never changed.
B. people's support might improve the program.
C. more topics will be shown in the next lecture.
D. some people still feel less interested in them.
45. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?
A. The secret of science. B. Let's go to space!

Smart-phones have become an important part of our daily lives. However, to protect younger students’ eyesight and make sure they focus on studies, primary and middle schools will have more rules to limit (限制)students5 mobile phone use at school.
The Ministry of Education (教育部)published a notice in January that restricts primary and middle school students from carrying mobile phones to school. Those who still require their phone for some reason must get their parents’ and teachers’ approval and must hand their phones over during class time. The policy aims to improve students' focus on study and fight addiction to the Internet and games.
It's reported that China had about 200 million Internet users underl8 by the year of2020, with 72 percent having their own mobile devices. This is worrying, as long-time use of smart-phones harms children's eyesight, cervical vertebrae and even the brain, according to the WHO.
On Feb. 19th, Beijing Municipal Education Commission (教委)published a notice that asked all local primary and middle schools to include rules about smart-phone usage in school management. Schools should clarify where, how and who will take care of the phones from students.
Many schools have taken action to limit students9 phone use at school. According to Zhou Dan, a teacher in Beijing, every classroom in her school has a box to store students5 phones during class. Before the new policy came out, she said that many students were crazy about their phones and most of them lack self- discipline(自 律), they spent too much time on the phone. But now great changes are happening to the students.
Li Hua, a student from Anhui, agrees with the new policy, “In general, there’re more advantages.” he said. Li believes that the policy can help students put the focus back on study.

Most young people like hamburgers and chips. However, eating too much junk food can harm your body, especially if you're between the ages of 10 and 19.
"Junk food shapes teen brains in ways that harm their ability to think, learn and remember. " said Amy Reichelt, a professor at Western University, Canada. Her team reviewed more than 100 studies, about how poor food can influence teen brains. They found teenagers are more sensitive (敏感的)than any other age group to junk foods with much fat and sugar as their brains are not yet fully formed.
Teen brains are still developing the ability to assess risks and control actions. The prefrontal cortex (前额皮层)is the part of the brain that tells us we shouldn't eat chips and helps us defend against that urge. However, this part is the last to mature- it doesn't fully develop until we are in our early 20s.
Meanwhile, teen brains get more excited from rewards. The parts of the brain that make us feel good when we do something pleasurable - like eating tasty foods - are fully developed by the teen years. In fact, these parts are even more sensitive when we are young. That's because dopamine, a natural chemical that lifts our mood when we experience something good, is especially active in teen brains.
Reichelt's team conducted a study using mice, whose brains develop much like our own. They discovered that the teenage55 mice that had a high-fat diet performed worse on memory tests than those eating a normal diet. Researchers said the high-fat diet may make the mice's prefrontal cortex work less effectively.
So, what's the best way to say no to junk food? Researchers suggest exercise. When we exercise, the brain's reward system becomes less sensitive to food. Exercise also leads the body to make a protein that helps brain cells grow and boosts connections between the prefrontal cortex and other brain parts. The prefrontal cortex can work better to help us make wise decisions and control ourselves.
42. According to the passage, who may like eating junk food most?
A. An 8-year-old boy who likes playing basketball.
B. A 13-year-old girl who is good at dancing and running.
C. An 18-year-old student who studies in a middle school.
D. A 25-year-old man who works in an American company.

A. the result of eating too much junk food
B. the reason why junk food harms teen's ability
C. the condition that they need to review their studies
D. the advice on how to keep away from junk food
44. What can we know about "dopamine”?
A. It only appears in teen brains. B. It helps us experience something good.
C. It helps us have good mood. D. It helps us control our actions well.
45. Which can be the best title for the passage?
A. Take care of your brains. B. Say no to junk food.
C. How to improve your ability. D. Exercise more, work better.

I was beginning to grow handsome. My coat was bright and black, I had one white foot and a pretty white star on my forehead. When I was four, Squire Gordon decided to buy me. Then Farmer Grey began to break me in.
Like all horses that have grown up, I had to wear gears (用具).The first is a bit and bridle. I hated wearing a bit in my mouth. It was horrible, like a metal finger between my teeth. The saddle was not so bad. One morning, my master rode me round the meadow. I was proud to carry him, and I soon got used to it. But I didn’t like the iron shoes. They were very stiff* and heavy on my feet. But in time I got used to that too.
My mother told me, “There are good men like our master, but there are bad men too. I hope you have good masters. But remember; always do your best.”
Early in May, a man came to take me away to Squire Gordon's house, in the village of Birtwick. My new stable (马厩)was large and comfortable. There was a little fat grey pony next to me. His name was Merrylegs. And I also found a tall chestnut horse at the comer of the stable, quiet.
“That's Ginger," Merrylegs told me. "She bites. One day she bit James, the groom (马夫).She says no one was kind to her before. But James and John, our grooms, are very good to us, and Squire Gordon doesn't: whip (鞭打)his horses, so I think she's going to like it here."
The next morning John took me for a ride. On the way back, we met Squire Gordon and Mrs. Gordon.
"Well, John, how does he go?” the Squire asked.

The distance between ancient Rome and ancient China was about 4,000 miles by land. There were terrible deserts and high mountains on the way. It was a very dangerous trip.
For a very long time, the ancient Romans did not know who was making this wonderful cloth called silk. The Romans first discovered pieces of silk in the goods they took from some of die people they had conquered (征服).But those people did not know where the silk was made. They only traded for the silk.
The Romans tried to find more traders as they came into villages to trade silk for other goods. But the traders did not know who made the silk either. In feet, the trading along the Silk Road was a relay (接力)system. One trader would travel for a while, stop and trade, and return home. The next trader would continue, stop and trade, and return home. And so it went. No trader made the whole trip because the trip was too dangerous.
As silk was becoming more and more popular, the demand for it in ancient Rome had grown. Ancient Rome had treasure. They hoped to find "The Silk People" to trade for more silk. But most never returned because they could not make it through the desert. They had to turn around and come back.
This went on for a very long time.
As the years went by along the Silk Road, temples appeared. There were even cities built on the oases (绿洲). It was never easy to travel by land from ancient China to ancient Rome. But it was worth it Ancient Rome traded treasure for ancient China's silk and spices. In feet, more things travelled along the Silk Road than traders and goods. Ideas travelled along the Silk Road as well. The ideas changed the world.

Programming Pain
Robots are useful and taking place of humans in some areas because they never get tired and can't feel pain. However, some researchers believe it's a good idea to program robots to feel pain.
Researchers from Leibniz University of Hannover in Germany are working to develop an artificial(人造的)robot nervous system to teach robots how to feel pain. "Pain is a system that protects us," said Johannes Kuehn, one of the researchers. "When we try to avoid the pain, it helps us not get hurt.”
Think about how many injuries you would receive if you couldn't feel pain. Even though pain hurts, it helps us avoid danger and treat our wounds. The same will be true for robots. As a great number of people work closely with robots, the robots must behave in a safer manner. Kuehn believes that by protecting robots from damage(伤害),they'll be protecting people as well. Damage . to robots if left unseen could lead to workplace accidents.
Rather than feel pain, some robots are designed to show pain or see it in others. Asada, an engineer at Osaka University in Japan, and his workmates have made sensors (传感器)that pick up many types of touch signals(信号).These touch and pain signals can turn into emotions and expressions on a robot’s face. Asada believes that these systems could finally lead to robots seeing the pain on human faces, an important skill for robots designed to care for elderly people, for example.
Antonio Damasio, a professor at the University of Southern California, argues that programming robots with a sense of pain may cause an artificial sense of feeling to develop. But he says that this communication is not the same thing as a robot truly feeling and expressing emotions or pain. If one day, robots could actually feel as humans do, Damasio has a suggestion for the number one rule for robots: Feel good.
42. What does the word in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. The feeling of pain. B. The injury we receive.
C. An artificial system. D. A new kind of robot.
43 .Which is the right process to show and see the pain?

A. Hopeless B. Opposite C. Expected D. Worried
45. The aim of programming robots to feel pain is ________________.
