Are you wishing for the days when your feed was filled with posts from friends you care about the most? The good news is that you can fix your Facebook News Feed to show more posts that interest you and fewer that do not. By taking just a few minutes to fix your feed, you may be able to enjoy Facebook again.
No need to unfriend anyone.
Just set your feed to see what you want to see and hide what you do not want to see.
See important friends first.
Facebook lets you choose which friends’ posts show at the top of your News Feed. Maybe you have dear friends who do not post often, but you want to be sure you see their posts first.
You can easily choose whose posts you want to see first by changing your News Feed settings.
•Procedures: On the Facebook website, tap the Down arrow in the upper right corner of the blue bar at the top of the screen. Then, choose “News Feed Preferences”. Then click on “List who to see first”. Choose the names of people whose posts you want to see at the top of your News Feed. The final step is to click “Done” at the bottom.
Block friends’ posts without unfriending anyone.
You may be best friends with someone in real life but have no interest in their Facebook posts. Maybe they post angry messages or childish videos. Facebook lets you secretly block friends’ posts from your feed. No one will know you blocked them unless you tell them.
•Procedures: The process is simple. Tap the Down arrow in the upper right corner of the blue bar at the top of the Facebook page. Then, choose “News Feed Preferences”. Next, choose “Unfollow people to hide their posts”. Then, mark the friends you want to unfollow. This will prevent their posts from appearing in your News Feed. When you finish blocking, just tap “Done”.

Matthew Whitaker has been blind since birth. His parents were told that he only had a 50% chance of survival, and he experienced 11 operations before he was even two years old.
Despite being faced with these terrible situations, he survived. Not only that, he exhibited an excellent gift for playing the piano; by the time he was 3 years old, he had played twohanded piano compositions and written his own songs without ever having a teacher. At the age of 5, he even could play the songs completely after hearing them one time.
Dalia Sakas, the director of New York’s Filomen M. D Agostino Greenberg Music School, recalls the moment she decided to take Witaker on as a student when he was five years old, making him the youngest person to ever attend the school. Now only 18 years old, Whitaker has since toured the world, headlined famous sites from Carnegie Hall to Kennedy Center, and won a number of music awards.
Such is the height of Whitaker’s talent that he caught the attention of Dr. Charles Limb, a neurologist who also happens to be a fellow musician. Dr. Limb was attracted by what might have been going on inside Whitaker’s brain, so with the permission of the musician and his family, Whitaker took two MRI exams—first while being exposed to different stimuli, including music, and then while he played on a keyboard.
What Dr. Limb was surprised to find was that Whitaker’s brain seemed to have repurposed its own disused visual cortex(视觉皮质) in order to build other neurological(神经系统的) pathways. Even when Whitaker was simply listening to one of his favorite pieces of music, his entire visual cortex lit up.
When Dr. Limb presented Whitaker with his brain scans showing how his brain lit up when he listened to music, the musician was amazed. “I didn’t even know that was happening.” When asked about why his brain was inspired in such a way, he simply said “I love music”.
24. What can we learn about Matthew Whitaker from Para.3?
A.He was the youngest disabled piano player in the school.
B.Dalia Sakas helped him tour the world to play the piano.
C.He had visited a lot of tourist attractions by the time he was 18.
D.He has achieved great success in music when he is just eighteen.
25. What was Dr. Limb probably interested in about Matthew?
A.His brain’s reaction to music. B.The terrible condition of Matthew.
C.The special structure of his brain. D.The wonderful performance of Matthew.
26. What do you know about the result of Whitaker’s brain scans?
A.It showed that Whitaker was just a common boy.
B.Dr. Limb and Whitaker both felt unexpected about it.
C.Dr. Limb thought that it wasn’t reasonable and complete.
D.It explained how Whitaker remembered the songs after listening.
27. What is the best title for the text?
A.A Scientist Is Studying An 18yearold Piano Player
B.An 18yearold Blind Piano Player Is Studying His Brain
C.An 18yearold Piano Player Helps Scientists with Music
D.A Scientist Studies An 18yearold Blind Piano Player’s Brain

Poaching(偷猎)and habitat loss have threatened Africa's two species of elephants, taking them closer toward the edge of disappearance, according to a new report released by the International Union for Conservation of Nature(IUCN).
Before this update, Africa's elephants were grouped together and were evaluated as vulnerable(易受伤害的)by the IUCN. This is the first time the two species have been sorted separately. In the past, elephants were mostly considered as either Asian elephants or African elephants. Forest and savanna elephants(稀树草原象) were typically classified as subspecies of African elephants.
The African forest elephant is now listed as critically endangered and the African savanna elephant as endangered. The number of African forest elephants fell by more than 86% over a 31-year assessment period. The population of African savanna elephants dropped by at least 60% over the last 50 years, according to the IUCN, which tracks the assessment risk of the world's animals. Africa currently has an estimated 415, 000 elephants, counting the two species together.
Both elephant species experienced significant population decreases because of poaching. Although it peaked in 2011, illegal hunting still happens and continues to threaten elephant populations. African elephants also face continued habitat loss as their land is converted for agriculture or other uses.
There is some good conservation news, the IUCN points out. Anti-poaching measures, combined with better land use planning to support better human-wildlife relationships, have helped conservation efforts. Some forest elephant population figures have stabilized in well-managed areas in Gabon and the Republic of Congo and savanna population figures have remained stable or have been growing, particularly in the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area in southern Africa.
But with constant demand for ivory and increasing human pressures on Africa's wild lands, concern for Africa's elephants is high, and the need to creatively conserve and wisely manage these animals and their habitats is more severe than ever.
28. What can be inferred from the new report about African elephants?
A. They are divided into three kinds. B. They are dying out.
C. Their threat is mainly from poaching. D. Their population has grown in Africa
29. What does the author mainly tell us in Paragraph 3?
A. The detailed number of African elephants. B. The similarities of African elephants.
C. The different types of African elephants. D. The present situation of African elephants.
30. What does the underlined word "converted" in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Expanded. B. Protected. C. Transformed. D. Forbidden.
31. What's the author's attitude to the present situation of African elephants?
A. Hopeless. B. Optimistic. C. Uncertain. D. Worried.

Zeroemission large passenger aircraft powered by hydrogen will be technically available in five years, according to Airbus, but they will not enter service for at least a decade as the price of the fuel needs to come down.
The prediction comes from Glenn Llewellyn, vicepresident of zeroemission technology at the panEuropean planemaker. He said that while Airbus planned to demonstrate hydrogenpowered aircraft in 2025, over the next 10 years, hydrogen won’t be more economic than the fossil fuel equivalent.“To make real emissionfree hydrogenpowered planes, which give out only water and heat, their fuel needs to come from hydrogen produced via renewable sources such as wind and solar,” he added. “Another barrier is building up the ecosystem that hydrogen aircraft will need.”
However, Mr Llewellyn predicted that there was enough interest in the sector to make this happen. In an interview, Mr Llewellyn said, “We already see massive increases in the amount of renewable energy being produced across the world.”“Wind energy production has multiplied by two over the last five years and solar energy production has multiplied by four,’’ he added.“There are a number of independent institutes that have mapped out how hydrogen costs can come down over the next decades. We see a 30% reduction in renewable hydrogen costs in 2030 compared to where it is today, and a 50% reduction in renewable hydrogen costs by 2050. They are exactly the kind of cost figures that are interesting for us, because it makes zeroemission aircraft commercially viable(可行的) in the 2030s.”
Last month UKbased ZeroAvia conducted the world’s first flight of a commercialgrade aircraft powered by hydrogen. A few days before, Airbus announced a series of design proposals for hydrogendriven aircraft, including a “blended wing” concept that provides greater storage capacity. This design could be key to hydrogenpowered aircraft as the fuel is less energydense (密度大的) than conventional fuel and so it requires more space to match performance of existing airplanes.
32.Which can be the suitable title for the text?
A.A Prediction about Zeroemission Aircraft
B.Zeroemission Large Aircraft Will Be Available
C.How Zeroemission Large Aircraft Will Be Made
D.The Barriers to Make Zeroemission Large Aircraft
33.What does Paragraph 2 focus on?
A.The future to make hydrogenpowered aircraft.
B.The importance to make hydrogenpowered aircraft.
C.The problems to make hydrogenpowered aircraft.
D.The possibility to make hydrogenpowered aircraft.
34.What does the underlined word “ capacity” in the last paragraph mean?
A.Space. B.Ability. C.Place. D.Capability.
35.What is Mr Llewellyn’s attitude towards the future of zeroemission large aircraft?
A.Cautious. B.Negative. C.Doubtful. D.Positive.

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Give Your Bedroom the Deepclean It Needs
A messy bedroom can add to everyday stress, cause anxiety, and even affect your sleep. A clean, organized sleeping space, on the other hand, helps encourage relaxation and restfulness when you hit the sheets at night. 36
Take out trash. Begin by taking care of simple, everyday messes. 37 Whether it’s from tearing tags off clothing or latenight snacking, small trash can build up easily. Throw away any trash around the room first, then empty the wastebasket.
Clear surface clutter(杂物). Nightstands, dressers, and desks often become drop zones for small daily objects. 38 If you notice a daily habit, such as commonly picking up keys or putting on glasses, consider creating an organization system for these frequentlyused items.
Wipe down windows and mirrors. Let the light shine through your windows without any dirty marks disrupting your view. Wipe down all the windows and mirrors in your bedroom. 39 Their tiny fingerprints are probably at the bottom of the mirrors.
40 A bedroom that’s spotless from top to bottom isn’t possible without cleaning the floors. If you have hardwood floors, remove and vacuum(真空吸尘)any rugs before sweeping the entire floor. For carpeted bedrooms, clear out the dust with a vacuum. For either method, reach as far under the bed and heavy furniture as you can. If you have a lightweight side table or chair that can be moved easily, put it in the hallway as you clean your floors.
A.Vacuum or sweep.
B.Wipe surfaces clean.
C.Your sheets need to be washed and changed regularly.
D.If you have young kids in the house, be sure to wipe down low.
E.Take a few minutes to put these items back in their rightful homes.
F.If you don’t already have a small wastebasket in your room, get one.
G.A few simple housekeeping tasks can create a more inviting bedroom.

注意:
One afternoon after school, Mary and her brother, Keith, were eating at a cafe near their home. That afternoon, they had to share their table with another person. That person was a young lady in her twenties. After eating, she went to the restroom. Without realizing, she had left her handphone on the table. Five minutes later, she came out and walked out of the cafe without looking back.
Mary saw the handphone on the table. She quickly told Keith, “Keith, the girl left behind her handphone.”
Keith looked at the handphone. It took his breath away. It was one of the latest models on the market. Keith had always wanted a handphone. But his parents had told him, “You don't need one. You can always use the house phone.”
He stared at it for some minutes. Then he said slowly, pausing on every word, “I want to take the handphone.”
Mary could not believe her ears. She merely stared at her brother. “You can't! What if the owner comes to look for it?”
Having made the decision,Keith quickly grabbed the handphone and put it in his schoolbag. Then, he took Mary's hand and led her out of the cafe quickly.
Once back home, Keith locked his house door with trembling hands. Inside his room, he took out the piece of beauty. Oh, he liked it so much. Now he had his own handphone. Soon, he was polishing it happily.
But Mary told him, “Keith, you cannot keep the handphone. What will you tell Father about this? He will ask you how you got the handphone.”
Keith said quickly, “I will say a friend lent it to me.”
Mary said, “Now you are lying too.” Oh dear! When had Keith turned so dishonest?
Then Mary saw a house phone number on the plastic cover of the handphone. “This is the girl's phone number. Why don't we just call this number? We will talk to her and ask her to come and take back her handphone.” She was trying to talk some sense into him.

Dear Pam,
Last weekend, I took part in a book-donation event held by our school. I’d like to tell you something about it.
Aiming to help those children in poor areas, our school launched the activity. It was applauded by all students and teachers, who donated as many books as they could.
I collected up to 20 books and handed them to the volunteers, who thanked me for my generous support and offered me a little present.
The event was attached so much meaning to that our school even made headlines the next day. Hopefully, more such activities will be held to help those in need, from which we students will learn the true essence of the harmonious society.
Best wishes!

六、读后续写(25’):
That night, Keith turned over in bed from time to time. He had difficulty sleeping, uncertain about what he should do. Of course, he liked the new handphone. However, he was feeling sorry for the owner. When he thought how sad the young lady would be at the loss of her handphone, he was full of guilt and shame. The next morning, after a long and restless night, he was determined to return the handphone to the owner. After school, he told Mary, “I am going to phone the owner.”
Mary was very happy to hear that. Back home, they phoned the owner's house phone. A girl answered the phone. Kevin asked, “Are you the owner of the handphone? I'm Keith. I have your handphone. Can you come and get it?” The girl replied ‘Yes’ excitedly, expressing her gratitude repeatedly. Ten minutes later, she was at the same cafe to meet Keith. Handing back the handphone to her and seeing her smile happily, Keith realized that honesty was indeed the best policy.

W: But you can’t leave our kids alone at home. Will you ask our neighbor to help?
M: I’ll ask our friend Jack to come and keep an eye on them.
