He decided to take me on a trip to the Wild West.We took a plane to Albuquerque, a big city in the state of New Mexico. We reached Albuquerque in the late afternoon. Uncle Paul, my dad's friend, picked us up from the airport and drove us up to his farm in Pecos. His wife Tina cooked us a delicious dinner and we got to know his sons Ryan and Kyle. My dad and I spent the night in the guestroom of the farm house listening to the frogs and water rolling down the river nearby. Very early in the morning, Uncle Paul woke us up to have breakfast. “The day starts at dawn on my farm” he said. After breakfast, I went to help Aunt Tina feed the chickens, while my dad went with Uncle Paul to take the sheep out to graze(吃草). I was impressed to see my dad and Uncle Paul riding horses. They looked really cool. In the afternoon, I asked Uncle Paul if I could take a horse ride, and he said yes, as long as my dad went with me. I wasn't going to take a horse ride by myself anyway. So, my dad and I put on our new cowboy hats, got on our horses, and headed slowly towards the mountains. “Don't be late for supper” Uncle Paul cried, “and keep to the track so that you don't get lost” “OK” my dad cried back. After a while, Uncle Paul and his farm house were out of sight. It was so peaceful and quiet and the colors of the brown rocks, the deep green pine trees, and the late afternoon sun mixed to create a magic scene. It looked like a beautiful woven(编织的)blanket spread out upon the ground just for us.注意:(1) 续写词数应为150左右;(2) 请按如下格式作答。Suddenly a little rabbit jumped out in front of my horse. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We had no idea where we were and it was getting dark._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________2. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。“Ladies and gentlemen, a star is born” Rob and Anne turned to look at Barney in surprise. “Our teacher gave me the main part in our school play” Barney explained. “Oh, that's great” I said. “Who will you be playing” “The Easter Bunny of course” he answered. “Do you think you could make me a costume, Mum” “Of course I could.”I made great progress on the costume on his first rehearsal(排练) day. “Mum, you're spending so much time on the costume” Barney said. “Are you sure you don't mind” “No, not at all” I said. Barney looked a little bit uncomfortable. “Is everything OK” I asked. “Well, I'm just not sure whether you will be able to come” he said. I told him, “Of course we're coming to watch.”Over the next few days I kept working on the costume. “Barney will be so happy, Mum” said Anne one afternoon. Barney was watching from the doorway and his face turned red. I did think at the time that he was acting very strangely. But perhaps he had a little bit of stage fear. Then the big day was coming. Rob, Anne and I were really looking forward to Barney's performance. After a couple of minutes he walked onto the stage. “I am the Easter Bunny” he said loudly. He disappeared and the rest of the children sang a song. The play began. Rob, Anne and I waited for Barney to appear again. But soon it was all over. “He only had one line(台词)” said Anne. 注意:(1) 续写词数应为150左右;(2) 请按如下格式作答。After the performance, we went straight to find Barney. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Instead of being annoyed with the poor boy after knowing the truth, I patted him gently.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________3. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。Miss Baugh taught seventhgrade social studies. She was the kind of teacher that just about everyone has had at least once: Scary. Her reputation was not unlike that of Dracula. Miss Baugh allowed no nonsense. She drilled us and taught us to take school seriously. She also introduced to us the concept of “extra credit” for a correct response to a random question—and a frown for an incorrect one. Miss Baugh had been teaching for a long time and knew how to frighten even the naughty boys in the back row, including me. She managed to scare us all.But I also had a life outside of school and had just discovered cheap prank(恶作剧) pieces—an ink bottle painted to look as though it had overturned, and a piece of shiny black metal shaped like a puddle of ink.Of all the people I could have pranked, I chose Miss Baugh somehow. At the beginning of the class, before she'd returned to her classroom, I dared to approach her desk. I opened her grade book and placed the bottle and the black metal on one of the pages, proudly noting that it truly did look like spilled ink! Then I went to my desk and waited for the fun.I wasn't disappointed. When Miss Baugh saw the items, she let out a little cry and looked for something to wipe up the ink with. The prank had succeeded the way beyond my expectations. But immediately she discovered that it was just a piece of black metal. She picked up the “puddle” then the bottle, and examined them. She looked up with eyes sweeping the classroom with a deadly stare. Some of my classmates who had seen me set up the fake spill carefully avoided looking at me, so as not to give me away. Then came the unavoidable question: “Who did this注意:(1) 续写词数应为150左右;(2) 请按如下格式作答。After a few violent beats in my heart, I slowly raised my hand. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Miss Baugh was as strict as before, but something changed in me. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________4. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。Emily sighed for many times. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake off her disappointment. She and her best friend, Zatanna, had been planning a shopping day for weeks. They had been so busy for their final exams that they barely had time to text each other. Emily looked at her empty desk and was reminded of how she had exhausted herself to the breaking point to get ahead in her class, so that she could spend the whole day with Zatanna. It seemed as if their time together wasn't as important to Zatanna considering the fact that she had called her a few minutes ago to tell her that she wouldn't be able to keep her promise. Obviously, her other friends dragged her away for a weekend.Emily tried to take a deep breath even though there was an invisible heavy weight around her heart. She hated to act like someone who was eager for attention, so she just laughed off their plans in front of Zatanna and made a halfhearted attempt to reschedule them. She sat down heavily in her chair and opened her books. “Might as well get some studying done” she thought. For the next couple of days, she didn't get any texts or calls from Zatanna. Her calls went straight to voicemail and her texts were unread. She started to get worried. Zatanna never ignored her calls. Even if she was busy, she still responded, though a bit hastily(草率地). Emily didn't think much of this and reasoned that she must have been busy with her new friends. After a few more days of no contact with Zatanna, she felt anxious and thought of the worstcase scenario. She shook her head as if she could physically let those dark thoughts go. “I'll visit her professor” she thought with a determined nod of her head.注意:(1) 续写词数应为150左右;(2) 请按如下格式作答。She knew from a professor that Zatanna worked parttime in the cafe on the other side of campus. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Zatanna looked up, and her eyes widened.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________提高题1. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。During the past year, I've had three instances of car trouble. Each time these things happened, I was sick of the way most people hadn't bothered to help. One of those times, I was on the side of the road for close to three hours with my big Jeep. I put signs in the windows, big signs that said NEED A JACK(千斤顶), and offered money. Nothing. Right as I was about to give up, a Mexican family in a small truck pulled over, and the father bounded out.He sized up the situation and called for his daughter, who spoke English. He conveyed through her that he had a jack but that it was too small for the Jeep, so we would need something to support it. Then he got a saw(锯子) from the truck and cut a section out of a big log on the side of the road. We rolled it over and put his jack on top, and we were in business.I started taking the wheel off, and then, if you can believe it, I broke his tire iron. No worries: He handed it to his wife, and she was gone in a flash down the road to buy a new tire iron. She was back in 15 minutes. We finished the job, and I was a very happy man.The two of us were dirty and sweaty. His wife prepared a pot of water for us to wash our hands. I tried to put a $20 bill in the man's hand, but he wouldn't take it, so instead, I went up to the truck and gave it to his wife as quietly as I could.I asked the little girl where they lived. Mexico, she said. They were in Oregon so Mommy and Daddy could work on a fruit farm for the next few weeks. Then they would go home.注意:(1) 续写词数应为150左右;(2) 请按如下格式作答。When I was about to say goodbye, the girl asked if I'd had lunch._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________After they left, I got into my Jeep and opened the paper bag.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。A Narrow EscapeA feeling of terror came over tenyearold Chet Roscow. He had been swimming in the Matawan River by himself. But he had the idea that someone or something was watching him.And then he saw a large gray fin() slicing through the water like a knife. What was that? Could it be a shark? That was impossible! Elm Hills was miles and miles from the ocean. How could a shark find its way into this little river? But now Chet could see it coming toward him.The shark was bigger than Chet himself. The blackkiller  eyes were staring up through the water.Chet dived toward the shore, pounding through the water and kicking with all his might. His feet touched the bottom. He was running now, looking over his shoulder. The shark was right behind him, its huge jaws wide open and its white teeth shining in its blooded mouth. Those killer eyes stared at Chet. And then, with a flick of its tail, the shark pushed itself backward into the water, and disappeared down the river.Chet rose to his knees and threw up. When he could stand, he suddenly noticed his friends, Sid, Monty and Dewey, standing on the dock(码头).Before he could stop them, they had dived into the water.“Get out of the water” he screamed.“Get out! Get out nowHe thundered down the path and onto the dock. “You have to get out! There's a shark“You hear that, Monty” Sid said.“There's a shark in the river! We'd better get out.”Sid lifted himself up on the dock and took a running leap off the edge of the dock.He jumped into the river with such an enormous splash that Chet got thoroughly wet. Monty and Dewey dived in after him.“Oh shaaaaaaarrrrrrrk” Sid called through cupped hands.“Here, shark! Some of the kids were playing with paper planes and others just chatting. Their teacher had gone out of the classroom and when he returned, there was a boy with him. Ray was suddenly brought back to earth. The boy looked so tired and his clothes were old, dirty and torn. The teacher introduced the newly admitted boy, called Richard, to the class and assigned him a seat behind Ray.After the class, Ray and his friends were chatting together. They heard the new boy's conversation with the bookworm(蛀书虫) of the class, Ben. He was saying that he belonged to a lowclass family and he was really looking forward to studying hard and getting good marks. This caught the attention of Ray and his friends. So they called out to him, “Hey, new boy, what's up with your clothes”Another called out, “Didn't you have enough money to buy yourself a decent coat? Do you have enough money to buy food at least” “And your name's Richard, Rich for short, kind of opposite of what you are.” Ray and his friends burst out laughing.Embarrassed, Richard went away with Ben. The next day the same thing happened. Ray and his friends were making fun of Richard and Richard didn't talk back but tried to avoid them.During the evening, Ray was wandering aimlessly in a nearby street when he saw Richard feeding bread to a skinny puppy(小狗) which was tied to a pole in front of a wornout house. Tied so tightly around the neck, the puppy was having difficulty breathing. Richard tried to remove the rope but as it was about to come out, a fat drunk man suddenly came out from back. He grabbed Richard around the neck and lifted him upwards, shouting angrily. Richard asked him to leave him alone, promising that he wouldn't come again to see the puppy, but the rude man didn't seem to put him down.注意:(1) 续写词数应为150左右;(2) 请按如下格式作答。Seeing this, Ray rushed up to the man without hesitation.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Having left the man far behind, they stopped running._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________4. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。A GIFT FOR GRANDPASummer vacation was coming. Jack and his brother Berlin were filled with excitement as they thought of visiting their grandparents again. The big day came at last. After the happy family got ready, they set out for the grandparents' eagerly. On the way, the brothers were excitedly talking about the fun they had with grandparents.A little blue house with a tall white chimney finally appeared. Behind the property was the forest carrying their good memories with Grandpa. They arrived at the driveway, at the end of which Grandma was waiting for them joyfully.Jack and Berlin each gave Grandma a big hug and then swept to the living room, shouting excitedly “Grandpa, we are backSeeing his grandsons, Grandpa was wild with joy and tried to get up with all his strength from the chair but in vain. A helpless expression flashed on his face. Grandma explained that his health was declining rapidly and maybe couldn't stand up on his own forever. But Grandpa declared stubbornly, “I can” Certainly, he was stuck in his boyish way. Mum and grandparents were happy to meet again after a long time. They sat together and chatted about what happened recently. The brothers were soon bored with adult conversation, went out and wandered into the forest. Tall trees stretched up to the heavens with large branches crossing each other, while young ones rose straight like soldiers. Grandpa was once a great explorer full of wisdom. He could tell where the birds came from only by their calls and songs. The trees, birds, lizards, lots of bugs…How many merry moments they spent with Grandpa in the kingdom! But now Grandpa couldn't get up. This made them worried. “We'd think out a way to cheer him up” Jack said. “Grandpa is a bird lover, and we can catch him a bird” Berlin suggested. “But he hates birds being caged” Jack shook his head. Then a bright idea came to Jack's mind. “Why not make a cane(拐杖) out of a young tree注意:(1) 续写词数应为150左右;(2) 请按如下格式作答。Berlin thought it was a good idea._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Jack and Berlin handed the cane to Grandpa.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________        1. One possible versionSuddenly__a__little__rabbit__jumped__out__in__front__of__my__horse. Startled by the white fluffy rabbit, the horse almost threw me off its back. I hurriedly tightened my grip and couldn't help letting out screams. But after we regained our calm, I was amused both by the thrill and the innocence of the little creature. Seeing it fleeing, cheerily, I turned to my dad, “Dad, can we follow it” My dad nodded with a tolerant smile. Soon without consciousness, we were miles away up into the mountain and we lost track of the rabbit and of course, as well as the track Uncle Paul had asked us to keep to.We__had__no__idea__where__we__were__and__it__was__getting__dark. We had to get off the horses and tried to figure out the way back. But after many attempts, we still failed—we got lost. As darkness thickened, dad believed it was safer to stay on the spot and waited for help. It was then that we enjoyed a symphony of nature. This serenity ended as we heard shouts and torches came into our sight. At this time, I felt extremely grateful, to Paul and Tina, to this vacation with my dad, and to nature.2. One possible versionAfter__the__performance,__we__went__straight__to__find__Barney. With no great effort we spotted the star himself sitting quietly in a corner.“Barney, you amazed us all! What a perfect performance! We are proud of you” So surprised and unexpected was Barney that he just couldn't control himself anymore. “Sorry, Mum. You put so much time into my costume at home but I only had one line on the stage.” With his head nearly buried into his chest and eyes filled with tears, Barney was seemingly waiting for my severe scold. Instead__of__being__annoyed__with__the__poor__boy__after__knowing__the__truth,__I__patted__him__gently.“That doesn't matter, my fantastic star! What an unforgettable experience for you, and for me” Hearing my words, Barney felt comforted and made up his mind to train harder to get the main part the next year. Day by day, he spared no effort to rehearsal again and again. Then came the school play day when we were so delighted to appreciate a wonderful performance given by the real star!3. One possible versionAfter__a__few__violent__beats__in__my__heart,__I__slowly__raised__my__hand.  Miss Baugh fixed me with a stare that struck terror in my heart. The whole classroom fell into a dead silence. I thought a storm of criticism was coming, but unexpectedly, she just laughed. “Well, it certainly fooled me” she said, with a satisfied expression spreading across her face. She returned the prank pieces to me, and for a few seconds a sweet little old lady appeared right where Miss Baugh stood.Miss__Baugh__was__as__strict__as__before,__but__something__changed__in__me. She continued to lead us in our social studies with her serious attitude. I didn't prank others any longer and was more focused on my study. And she became a good teacher worthy of respect in my heart just because I glimpsed that Miss Baugh had a warm human being beneath her stern face. That may have been the most enduring “extra credit” I received in seventhgrade social studies.4. What's going on” “My dad's in hospital, and my mom can't support us financially, so I decided to take this job to help her out a bit” Zatanna whispered with tears streaming down her cheeks. Emily apologized repeatedly and hugged her friend tightly. 1. One possible versionWhen__I__was__about__to__say__goodbye,__the__girl__asked__if__I'd__had__lunch. To be honest, after working hard for several hours, I was so hungry. Feeling a bit embarrassed, I replied: “no” The girl said with a smile“Come on! Join us.  The Mexican sandwich is delicious”With moved tears rolling around my eyes, I took the sandwich. While dining, I talked about my trouble and feelings and they shared their interesting stories in the life. Then, the girl's mother had another sandwich and some fruit placed in a paper bag and handed it to me, saying gently: “Keep it and have it later! We had to go now.” I showed my heartfelt gratitude to them and saw them disappear in my sight.After__they__left,__I__got__into__my__Jeep__and__opened__the__paper__bag. What surprised me a lot was that there was a sandwich, fruit and the bill given by me. Holding the paper bag tightly, I stood still, a warm current rising in my heart. From then on, I placed a jack and some common tools in my car. When meeting people in need on the road, I would try my best to help them like the family. Only in this way could more and more people help each other in the future.2. One possible versionBut__then__he__noticed__Sid,__strangely__still__in__the__river. His face had gone white. Chet's insides turned to jelly when he saw the shining fin moving slowly through the water.“Hurry” Chet cried. “Get out” Monty and Dewey flew out of the water. But Sid seemed stuck. Chet was almost out of the water when something caught his leg. “It's got my leg”Chet screamed. “Pull”Sid shouted.  They pulled until Chet's leg finally came free! Chet was injured, but to his relief, his friends were safe.3. One possible versionSeeing__this,__Ray__rushed__up__to__the__man__without__hesitation. He shouted“Leave him alone! Ray couldn't but bite the man's hand.  The man screamed, letting go of Richard.  Attempting to seize Ray, the man reached forward but lost his balance, falling down. Before the man could rise, Ray had removed the rope from the puppy and released it. Then he grabbed Richard by the hand and together they ran away like crazy with the man following them. Having__left__the__man__far__behind,__they__stopped__running. Out of breath, Richard said thanks to Ray for lending a hand to him. Deeply ashamed and guilty, Ray apologized to Richard sincerely“Terribly sorry for having hurt you at school. Actually, you're such a cute and kind boy. I … I shouldn't have done that.” Laughing off the unfair treatments, Richard expressed admiration for Ray's bravery. More than happy to have discovered shining spots in each other, Ray and Richard became close friends, who encouraged each other and worked hard, ending up as top students in the class. 4. One possible versionBerlin__thought__it__was__a__good__idea.   Jack said: “What kind of tree should we pick for the walking stick” Berlin thought for a moment and said: “I think we should choose a straight tree, so no knots will scratch Grandpa's hands.” Jack nodded his head in agreement. They found a straight tree and set to work. They cut the tree down, and with a knife they took the bark off. It was a wonderful tree, which was smooth and was just of the right size. They thought Grandpa would love it.Jack__and__Berlin__handed__the__cane__to__Grandpa.  When Grandpa took the cane, his hands shook with joy, thinking, “This is made by my grandsons themselves. How precious it is” Grandpa smiled and decided to give it a try so as not to make his grandchildren disappointed.  He held the cane in his right hand and the arm of his chair in his left hand.  He stood up with strength on his legs. Everyone was surprised and excited to see Grandpa stand up. At that moment, Jack noticed a tear coming from the corner of his grandfather's eye.
