She waited for this moment for more than a year. Most of the kids in the first grade lost not only one tooth, but several. But my daughter kept waiting impatiently. Then, she finally got a loose (松的) tooth. I never saw her so happy — except on Christmas, Children’s Day or her birthday. Last Friday night, she was eating an apple, and the tooth started to become loose. Minutes later, my daughter shouted happily. The tooth was out!I cleaned it off and put it under her pillow (枕头). When she went to bed that night, my daughter wondered, “Will the tooth fairy (牙仙) let me keep the tooth?” I told her she might and she’d have to wait and see.The tooth fairy comes from an old story. It’s believed that when a kid loses his first tooth and puts it under his pillow, the tooth fairy will come to visit him when he is sleeping. If the tooth fairy sees the kid and loves him, she will leave some money under his pillow without taking away the tooth. If she doesn’t think the kid lovely enough, she will still leave some money but take the tooth away and then I put a dollar in my bag so that I’d remember to put it under my daughter’s pillow. You should know that this is bad for your hearing, according to the World Health Organization(WHO). Over 1 billion young people are at risk(风险) of hearing loss(听觉损失) because of listening to loud noise for a long time, said WHO. Listening to music or watching TV show at loud volumes can harm your hearing. The United Nations has standards(标准) for safe listening. It is not safe to listen to sounds that are louder than 85 decibels(dB分贝) for eight hours or 100 dB for 15 minutes. The sound of a busy road is about 85 dB and the sound of a rock music concert(摇滚音乐会) can be about 100dB.Loud noise is harmful to the inner ear(内耳). Most of us are born with about 16,000 hair cells(听毛细胞) in our inner ears. These cells help us detect sounds, that’s how we receive sounds from outside. However, listening to loud noise for a long time can make these cells work too hard and cause some of them to die. This is what causes hearing loss. Some people may think that their music isn’t all that loud. But this situation changes when they are in different places. For example, if you are in a noisy place like the underground, you might turn up your music too loud without realizing it. Later, when you listen to it at the same volume in a quiet place, you might feel uncomfortable.WHO said the “safe level” for most sounds is below 80 dB for up to 40 hours a week. A level of 80 dB is equal to the noise of an underground.( )5. The sound level of a busy road is about dB.A. 80 B. 85 C. 100 D. 115( )6. It’s safe to listen to sounds above 85 dB for 10 hours.D. I don’t know what to do, and your advice is important to me. You smoke your cigar (雪茄烟) while I explain.”“Please continue,” I said, as I lit my cigar.“Now there’re a few important points in young James’ story. One, his father cries Coo-ee before he sees him. Two, he talks about a rat (老鼠). I think young James is telling the truth (真相).”“So why did Mr. McCarthy shout Coo-ee then?”“Well, he was not shouting Coo-ee to his son. It was by chance that James heard. The Coo-ee was to call the person he was meeting. But Coo-ee is an Australian cry, Australians usually say it when they meet to catch attention. Perhaps Mr. McCarthy was meeting someone from Australia.”“I see. But why did he talk about a rat, then?” I asked.Holmes took a piece of paper from his pocket and put it on the table.“This is a map of Australia,” he said. He put his hand over part of the map. “Now, Watson, what can you read there?” he asked me.“ARAT,” I read.“And now?” Holmes moved his hand.“BALLARAT,” I read.“Yes. That was the word the dead man said. It’s a place called Ballarat. His son only heard the ‘rat’ part of the word. Old Mr. McCarthy was trying to say where his murderer was from, the town of Ballarat. The grey cloak is point No. 3. If James is telling the truth, there was a grey cloak (斗篷). So now we have an Australian from Ballarat with a grey cloak.”“Great!” I replied.“And it’s someone who lives nearby, as the Boscombe Pool isn’t open to the public. In a normal night, of course, you often change your sleeping positions. The important position that best shows your secret personality is the one that you go to sleep. If you go to sleep on your back, you’re a very open person. You normally trust people and you are easily influenced (影响) by new ideas. You never want to change your ideas, but you are happy with your life now. You usually live for today not for tomorrow. If you sleep on curled up (蜷缩), you are probably a very nervous person. You have a low opinion of yourself and often protect yourself from being hurt, so you are very defensive. You’re shy and you don’t usually like meeting people. You like to be on your own. If you sleep on your side, you have usually got a well-balanced (平衡的) personality. You know your strengths and weaknesses. You’re usually careful. You have a confident personality. They help students learn more effectively, as well as bring convenience to teachers. The University of British Columbia has created Canada’s first 5G smart campus. The school worked with a technology company to build a 5G network across its campus. Their researchers can use the network to test 5G software. At Staffordshire University in the UK, many students enjoy talking to Beacon and asking it questions. Beacon is an AI robot which can chat with you. It is like a personal assistant for students at school. They can ask it questions, such as whether or not one of their classes is cancelled. 5G smart campus will be a big help for students who take online classes. Many people live in poor areas where there are no schools. But with 5G, this will change. With virtual(虚拟) reality systems, students will be able to see places like the Great Wall without leaving their classrooms. In Australia, for example, many students live far away from schools. They use cameras to talk to their teachers online, but sometimes it's a poor experience because of unstable(不稳定)connections. With the speed of 5G network, their teachers will be able to teach without worrying about their connection, according to technology radar. 1. It’s my great honor to be here to share a few thoughts on my ways to relax with you. I like travelling because it’s a good way for me to relax. Though travelling, I can not only see many places of natural beauty around the world, but also learn a lot about the world’s culture and different living habis of the local people. While travelling, always remember to be a visitor with good manners. We shouldn’t drop litter in public places. Also, we can’t talk or shout loudly either. Besides, we should behave politely. It’s polite to queue all the time and not to push in before others. While eating in a restaurant, remember not to make too much noise or talk with food in our mouth. It’s important to remember “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”. I also like reading. It’s another way of relaxing for me.I have been interested in reading since I was young. I like novels best. The four great classical Chinese novels are my favourite. I usually spend half an hour a day reading books. I got most of my books from the library. Good books are good friends. Reading can help me relax and improve my knowledge. It opens up a whole new world to me.As the saying goes, “Read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles”. That’s all.
