For Karina Edlinger, a 23-year-old Austrian cross-country skier, who was awarded two Austrian disabled athletes of the year, there were few unfinished goals in her sports career, and the gold medal of the winter Paralympic Games was one of them. Now, she has finally turned her medal into gold at the Beijing winter Paralympic Games.

At the award ceremony, Edlinger appeared on the stage with her guide Lampel. Along with them on the top podium was Riley, a guide dog of Edlinger. During the group photo session, Edlinger held Riley high to make him feel the glory of the champion.

As a working dog, the guide dog can provide a variety of services for the visually impaired. However, it took a lot of trouble for Edlinger to bring Riley to Beijing this time.

According to the rules, athletes participating in the winter Paralympic Games are not absolutely blind , but people with different degrees of visual impairment. However, Edlinger is a relatively extreme exception. Her eyesight is only 1.5% to 2% of that of ordinary people, which is almost equal to being completely blind and her daily activities depend very much on guide dogs. To this end, before participating in the Beijing winter Paralympic Games, Edlinger made a special application to the International Paralympic Committee. In an interview, Edlinger said, “For me, the most important thing to come to China is to take Riley. If I can't be with it, I will fly home directly. I know this is a bit tricky for the International Paralympic Committee, but it is my eyes, and emotionally, it is also my biggest reliance. If it can be there, I don't care even if there is no gold medal; If it's not there, every day is a very bad day for me.”

Fortunately, Edlinger finally got special approval from the International Paralympic Committee, and she also had the opportunity to let the world know Riley through the championship podium.

24      .When did Karina Edlinger win the gold medal?

    A.The Beijing Olympic Games

    B.The Sochi Paralympic Games

    C.The Pyeongchang Paralympic Games

    D.The Beijing winter Paralympic Games

25      .Why did Edlingern hold Riley high during the group photo session?

A.Because the audience was fond of her dog.

B.Because Riley suddenly broke into the podium.

C.Because winning the gold medal was the result of their joint efforts.

D.Because it was the requirement of the International Paralympic Committee.

26      .What’s the meaning of the underlined word “impairment” in paragraph 4?

    A.impact B.improvement C.disability D. complement

27      .What can we infer from paragraph 4?

    A.Karina Edlingern is completely blind.

B.Karina Edlingern brought her dog to Beijing without effort.

C.Riley is physically and mentally important to Karina Edlingern.

D.The International Paralympic Committee allowed guide dog to follow athletes.

Diving in the oceans, marine biologist Erika Woolsey has seen first-hand how coral reefs and sea life are being damaged by climate change. It has made her determined to find a way for others to share her experience---including those who can't easily explore the ocean. Through her non-profit, The Hydrous, Woolsey is using virtual reality to "bring the ocean to everyone" and to create a sense of "universal ocean empathy".

As a habitat, coral reefs rival the biodiversity of rainforests, with an estimated 25% of marine species depending on them. However, climate change, pollution and overfishing have decimated around half the world's shallow water coral reefs.

Two decades of underwater exploration have given Woolsey, 36, an intimate understanding of the threats facing reefs. "I've seen first-hand this ... shift from a healthy colorful vibrant coral reef, to what looks like a moonscape," Woolsey says. "When the coral goes ... so do the fish, so do the other animals that depend on the reef and human societies that rely on those ecosystems for their livelihood." It is this experience The Hydrous team set out to recreate with their award-winning film "Immerse." Intended to be watched with a VR headset, viewers join Woolsey for a nine-minute guided virtual dive on the coral reefs off the western Pacific Island of Palau, immersed in a 360-degree underwater view.

Viewers swim alongside manta rays, sea turtles and sharks before witnessing the deterioration ) of the reefs. The experience often arouses strong reactions. "As soon as people take off that headset and look me in the eye, they want to tell me a story about their ocean experience," Woolsey says. "It's that human connection to our ocean that will solve our ocean problems."

The VR technology shows not only the state our oceans are in but how they have a chance to recover. It is this that Woolsey says people take away with them after the experience. "When we ascend, we ascend with a message of hope that we bring back to land," she says.

28      .What inspired Woolsey to find away for others to explore the ocean ?

A.His enthusiasm of diving in the ocean.

    B.The development of virtual reality.

C.The damage to sea lives caused by climate change.

    D.His award-winning film “Immerse”.

29      .Which word can best describe the viewers’ attitude to the ocean exploration via VR ?

    A.Doubtful. B.Positive. C.Negative. D.Indifferent.

30      .What does the underlined word “this” in the last paragraph refer to ?

A.The hope to recover our ocean.

B.The chance to experience our ocean.

    C.The application of VR technology.

D.The human connections to our oceans.

31      .What’s the author’s purpose of writing this passage ?

    A.To introduce the VR technology.

    B.To share Woolsey’s diving experience.

C.To analyse the reasons for our ocean deterioration.

D.To raise the awareness of ocean protection.

    D

Virtual reality therapy has been used to successfully treat NHS patients with severe anxiety and agoraphobia in a trial led by Oxford University. Patients were given a virtual reality headset and coached through simulated day-to-day situations such as getting on a bus or going to a cafe. The immersive technology helped them move from a “housebound existence to life back in the world outside”, according to a study published yesterday in The Lancet Psychiatry.

Some 346 patients at nine different NHS trusts participated in the trial, which was the first of its kind and funded by the Department of Health. It involved patients with psychosis or schizophrenia who had an intense fear of being outside in everyday situations. They were given weekly three-hour virtual reality therapy sessions over six weeks that guided them through activities ranging from grocery shopping to going to the pub. At the beginning of the treatment the participants are introduced to Nic, their virtual coach who offer words of reassurance, and they select one of six social scenarios to practise. Each scenario has different difficulty levels, which participants work through on their own.

Following the treatment, the participants’ symptoms were compared to a control group who had received usual care, including medication and appointments with psychiatrists. The group who received virtual reality therapy had a 47 per cent greater reduction in agoraphobia symptoms, including a decrease in distress and paranoia. Six months after the treatment, patients were on average able to complete two more activities, such as walking down the street or going to a shop on their own. “After seven years of illness, I do feel so much better," one said. “I've been able to make eye contact with people more, without feeling really anxious.”

The authors said it could be used to help tackle mental health waiting lists, adding, “There is no need for a real-life therapist, meaning the treatment can reach many more patients". Professor Subodh Dave, dean of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, welcomed the findings. “Virtual reality has great potential as a novel therapeutic medium in psychiatry," he said, “As the technology becomes more accessible, affordable and advanced, it is likely to play a much bigger role in the near future.”

32      .What does the underlined word “simulated” in paragraph1 mean?

    A. created. B. imitated. C. assumed. D. pretended.

33      .What were the participants asked to do in the study?

    1.    To wear headsets correctly.
    2.    To pick six social scenarios and practice them.
    3.   To finish different levels of one social scenario alone.
    4.    To do activities under the guidance of a real-life coach.

34      .What can we learn about virtual reality therapy?

A.Its study was led and funded by Oxford University.

B.It is a conventional and useful treatment against anxiety.

C.The group with usual care could address sorrow easily.

D.It will have a promising future.

35      .Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?

    1.    Oxford University conducted one study.
    2.    Dose of virtual reality helps treat severe anxiety.
    3.   Virtual reality therapy is a powerful treatment
    4.    Virtual reality therapy is highly thought of.

Writing a movie review can be a nice opportunity to polish your writing skills, but also learn how to share your ideas clearly. It can help other enthusiasts choose the best movie for their desires. And it can prepare for college, as you will have to write numerous essays and papers. Writing a movie review is not difficult at all. 36

Of course, it is important to watch the movie so that you can craft your movie review. Many people are just writing reviews to spread rumors about certain movies. However, there is a trick. _ 37 The first time, you will surely be immersed in the story and will pay attention to the characters. The second time, you can pay attention to other important details.

38 However, when sharing it, you should keep a thing in mind. Do not disclose the plot, the ending, or give any spoilers to your audience. This might ruin the experience of watching the film and immersing themselves in the story. Do remember to share your opinion on a movie review more accurately.

You also need to think about where you will post your review and who will read it. The case of students who are getting an education and need to adapt their essays to the audience applies here too. 39

Writing a movie review can seem complicated, but it is easier than it seems. Watch the movie twice and focus on important details. Approach the actors and their backgrounds and be brave to share your opinion. 40 Never try to convince the audience of it. Talk about movie details such as special effects or music.

    1.   Back it up with arguments and explain it.
    2.    A movie review is about your opinion of the movie.
    3.   Here are some tricks on how to write your movie review.
    4.    However, some guidelines will help you write a fascinating review.
    5.    It is important to express your opinions of the movie exactly to the audience.
    6.    So, it is important to adapt the delivery of information to your target audience.
    7.   Watching the movie twice will allow you to get a better perspective on different aspects.
