I was lucky enough to co-teach fourth grade with him. Mr. Rowe had infinite patience and understanding and I learned so much from him. He could perform miracles, like the one he performed with Steven, one of the unhappiest kids I had ever seen. Steven couldn’t stand school. He didn’t like the kids who raised their hands and knew all the answers, and most importantly, he didn’t like himself.     The first day he walked into Mr. Rowe’s classroom, he ignored the other students, looking angry and annoyed, and slid into his chair, knocking a couple of textbooks onto the floor. Mr. Rowe walked over to him and touched Steven’s shoulder, but Steven pulled away. Nevertheless, Mr. Rowe welcomed him, “Hi, Steven. I’m happy you are in my class. We are gonna have a great year.” Steven looked around the room as if Mr. Rowe must be mistaken. No teacher in his right mind would want Steven to be part of his classroom. So, while Mr. Rowe seemed cheerful and relaxed that day of school, it seemed that Steven was angry and confused.     That day after class, Mr. Rowe chose Steven to pitch (投球) the kickball at break. “Hey, Steven.” Mr. Rowe commented, “You are good at pitching things. Let me show you my secret trick.” Mr. Rowe taught Steven one of the tricks that not a single kid could perform. Steven learned fast and did quite well! Everyone cheered for him.     After the kickball, Steven sat as closer to Mr. Rowe in class as he could. When a question was asked, Steven lit up; he knew the answer! He raised his hands. When he answered the question, his voice shook. However, he got the right answer! He said, with Mr. Rowe, his days of fourth grade promised wonderful. That is not to say that every day went smoothly, but it was evident that Steven grew to love Mr. Rowe more and more with each passing day. 注意1. 续写词数应为150 左右2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。    Time passed quickly that year, and before we all knew it, it was the last day of school. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________    Many years later, Mr. Rowe and I were surprised.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________6. 阅读下面材料根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段使之构成一篇完整的短文。The first time l ever wandered into my college library was when I was in Fresher's Week. That afternoon, I didn't have a tight schedule and I decided to go walking around the campus. I went to different places until I saw a door with a sign "library" on it. I pushed the door open, and what welcomed me were rows of tall shelves, with lots of books on them. It was as if each book on the shelves had its own unique smell and each book was trying to tell its story. I walked up to the first shelf and picked up the first book that caught my attention. Luckily, a book exhibition was taking place there. The author of one of my favourite books was giving a lecture. Her book inspired me a lot, so I was very happy to see her. While I recorded her lecture with my phone, I had so many questions coming into my mind to ask her. After that, I came across a new friend at the exhibition. We discussed what we thought about the exhibition and we had a lot in common to share. He talked about how novels expand one's horizons, and how they draw people into another world.  "A good writer makes a reader who has never been to Europe or any other continent experience that continent without stepping foot onto it." What he said really impressed me. At the very moment, one of his friends was looking for him. I wanted to add him as my friend, only to find my phone had run out of power. So we had to swap phone numbers. After saying goodbye, I remained in the library, picking up a novel to read.

For this, there are many reasons but the major cause is their not being able to properly understand their children. It is a dangerous gap because parents will have to communicate with their children about a wide variety of issues during the most important years of their lives. Thus, parents must know how to communicate openly and honestly with their children.    There are a few tips to make communication easier between parents and their children. As parents, you should listen to what children say carefully and pay much attention to it. Make them feel as if their views really matter, which not only helps your discussions with your children but brings you closer to them. Meanwhile, try to remember some of the negative feelings you experienced as a teenager and apply them to your children's situation. Never make negative remarks to your children about what they have said or done. Remember how much courage it would have taken for your children to come and talk to you about their personal issues. If your children are unusually angry, it may be time to spend a bit of quality time(珍贵时间) with your children to determine what is wrong and where the anger comes from.     It is, therefore, necessary for parents to try to keep communication open at all times with your children. Try to remember what it was like to be a teenager and how vulnerable (脆弱的) you felt. Then you will be well on your way to helping your children communicate more openly and honestly.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________8. 阅读下面短文根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。    Workaholics (工作狂) live for their work, often spending many extra hours on work, and often taking work home to complete. It's fine to live in a work-hard culture, but when work becomes the only reason for a person's existence above other important things (such as family and friends), the issue becomes critical. That's the problem more and more Americans are faced with.    Americans are working more hours per week than in years past, and with many companies reducing employees, more and more workers are worried about their own jobs. Some studies show that as many as 40 percent of American workers don't even bother to take vacations, partly because of fears that they may not have a job to come back to if they do. Besides, it is obvious that part of the matter is financial (金融的). More and more people begin to define success in terms of financial measures. The higher one’s income is, the more respect one gets. Finally, people nowadays live and work in a connected environment—e-mails, instant messaging, fax machines, and cellphones—making it hard for them to truly get time away from their work, even when they are on holiday.    When work becomes the only reason for being—when it becomes the only thing people think about, the only thing that truly makes people happy, many Americans find that they are no longer close to their kids. The divorce rate(离婚率) jumps and serious stress-related health problems come up. Undoubtedly, it is time to do something.     To reduce workaholism, you must stay away from work once in a while. There are many ways to do that: Spend time with family and friends; Call home often to stay connected; Learn to say no to new tasks; Consider exercise to get your body back to good shape; Fight the urge that everything you do must be perfect. It will take some effort, but for yourself and those you love, you really should make the effort. Have a try and you won't regret it.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

It seemed that it had been attacked by a virus. My granny came over and asked me what was wrong. To my surprise, she was giving the computer a transfusion! You see, such is my granny, a kind-hearted old lady, who is always ready to help me out!Thank you!5.答案:     Time passed quickly that year, and before we all knew it, it was the last day of school. Occupied with our work, it was some time before we took notice of a trembling figure at the door, who stepped forward and revealed himself to be Steven. With blood rushing to his face, he stuffed two roughly wrapped presents into our hands before timidity evidently got better hold of him, and then he pulled his arms hastily away. Mr. Rowe raised his eyebrows in astonishment, but a knowing smile flickered across his face as he stooped down to hold him in a tender embrace. The scene, which drew a wonderful close to that year, was my last memory of little Steven.    Many years later, Mr. Rowe and I were surprised. On a bright morning, the office door was gently pulled open. Inside came a neatly-dressed gentleman who wore a grin of rapture and confidence. “I’m back, Mr. Rowe.” said Steven cheerfully, who threw himself into Mr. Rowe’s arms and hugged him tightly. The moment when they gazed at each other and grinned from ear to ear deeply touched me. It dawned on me that the magical power of a teacher’s care and patience could truly save an isolated soul and reconstruct a person’s life.6.答案:     I was so absorbed in the book. This book was a romantic love story. I was so attracted by the story of the hero and heroine that I didn't notice the passing of time. Suddenly, the light went out, and I was frightened by the sudden darkness. I immediately took out my mobile phone and looked at the time. It turned out that it was 9 p. m., when all the staff of the library were off duty, and the door through which I could go out had been locked. I was terrified.     I tried every effort to find other exits to leave the library, but in vain. I could only rely on my cell phone to find a way out. I searched in my mobile phone address book for a long time and wanted to find someone who could help me out. Suddenly, I found the phone number of the new friend I met at the exhibition. Somehow, I thought he could help me. I dialed his number and told him what happened and he promised to help me at once. After 15 minutes, he opened the door and I felt very excited. It turned out that he was a staff member of the library. I thought it was lucky to know him. 7.答案:     There are various reasons for the difficult communication between parents and their children. Here are some tips. Listen carefully to your children's words. Don't ignore your children's feelings. Try not to talk negatively to your children. Imagine what it would be like to be a teenager. As long as you always keep communication open and remember the feeling of being a teenager, you will have better communication with your children in the future.
8.答案:     An increasing number of Americans are becoming workaholics. They work extra hours every week to maintain their jobs and become financially successful. Even on holiday, modern communication technologies always connect them to work. Consequently, workaholism breaks up their families and damages their health. Luckily, there is a lot one can do to make time away from work though it takes some effort, but anyway, it's worthwhile to have a try.
