Text 1
W: The weather report says the sunny weather will continue today and tomorrow.
M: Yes, but enjoy it because on Sunday it will be cloudy. It won’t rain until Monday.
Text 2
W: Is that Harry I can hear on the piano?
M: That’s his sister. She plays the violin as well.
W: Does Harry play anything?
M: He’s not bad at the guitar. He doesn’t practise enough, though.
Text 3
W: Joey, would you mind washing your shoes?
M: Not at all.
W: Could you possibly clean your room this afternoon?
M: Sorry, I have to go to football practice.
Text 4
M: What would you like to see first, the tigers or the monkey house?
W: I’d really like to see the seals. It’s almost their feeding time.
Text 5
W: I hear you are thinking about moving back into the dormitory next term.
M: Who told you that? I’d never give up my apartment.
Text 6
M: Lucy, you look tired. Have you been studying too hard recently?
W: Well, I’m trying to lose weight. So 6I’m going on a diet. Ever since then, I always fell tired.
M: You need to include all that is necessary for your body.
W: Yeah, I know. But I have gained a lot of weight recently.
M: You should do proper exercise. 7Just as we should eat a variety of different foods, it’s a good idea to do a variety of exercises on a daily or a weekly basis. It will take effect soon.
W: Yeah, you’re right.
Text 7
W: Here are the medical charts of your patients for this afternoon. Is there anything else you need?
M: Thank you, Jane. And yes, 8I do need you to take a walk down to the X-ray room to get Mr. Chow’s X-rays for me. But before you do, could you ask the next patient to come in, please?
W: Your next patient, Ms. Jackson, is not here yet. 9Should I send in Mr. Peterson first?
M: 9Yes, please ask him to come in. Also, could you call up my lawyer, Mr. Harris, after you pick up the X-ray film and tell him that I’d like to see him tomorrow morning?
W: OK.
Text 8
M: Good evening! For today’s program, we have invited Sophie, a lady who worked as a nurse during World War II.
W: Good evening! At the beginning of World War II, 10the government called on all its citizens 18 years old and over to help out. I started training as a nurse in November, 1940. It was two months of being taught basic skills in the School of Nursing.
M: What happened to you during the sudden attack? You know, when Nazi Germany dropped bombs on Britain?
W: Manchester was bombed on the 22nd and 23rd of December, 1940. On December 24 11I received an order requesting my immediate return from leave for duties of nursing the wounded. 12Many volunteers in the Manchester Social Services have taken a week’s leave for the Christmas holidays, so the Manchester City Rest Centers were short of staff. Christmas Day was therefore my first day of nursing.
Text 9
M: Look Ann, it’s Wednesday already and we still haven’t decided what to buy Jill and Tony for their wedding.
W: Oh relax Mike. There’s plenty of time. 14They’re not getting married until Saturday.
M: We’re both working tomorrow and Friday. We don’t have much time at all. Let’s at least talk about what we should buy them.
W: OK, well, I think it should be something amusing, something that’ll make them smile.
M: No, I think it should be meaningful. Something that will last forever.
W: Well, what for example?
M: I don’t know. Why don’t you get them something? You know them better than I do.
W: No, I don’t. 15I play tennis with Jill once a month but I only met them last year. You went to university with Tony. And didn’t you go out with Jill for a while?
M: No, I didn’t. It was her sister. But that was ages ago. I wonder if she will be at the wedding.
W: I’m looking forward to the wedding. 16I wish that it wasn’t such a big event though. I think it’s better with just a few guests. Big weddings can be a bit unfriendly.
Text 10
M: Langston Hughes was born in Missouri in 1902 ,but 17was raised by his grandmother after his parents separated. When not living with his grandmother, he traveled with his mother from town to town. While living in Ohio in his early teenage years, Langston Hughes wrote a number of poems in rhyme, and his eighth grade class elected him as the class poet. He moved to Mexico after high school and wrote The Negro Speaks of Rivers in 1921. It expressed his sadness at the endless hardship of the people of his race. 18In 1926 Langston Hughes published his first poetry The Weary Blues. In the early 1930’s, Hughes traveled to the Soviet Union, Japan and Haiti. 19After many travels he returned to Harlem to make it his home, which is an area of New York City in northeast Manhattan, where many African-American people live. 20He wrote one of his most famous poems Harlem in 1951. Ten years later he published Black Nativity which caused public arguments about race relations. He died in 1967. Many people refer to Langston Hughes as the most famous black poet due to his influence on African- American literature.
Project C“Anyone with dance experience at the intermediate level that wants
to improve their Musical Theatre Dance skills will not want to miss this workshop!”
25.A. 根据文中第一段中的“ She has been very successful at it,too.”以及第二段中的“ which her teacher said was surprising”可知, Jamaria的柠檬汁摊位经营得很成功。 根据下文“ which her teacher said was surprising”可知, JSamaria成功经营摊位使得她的老师深感惊讶。
根据文中第六段“ I'm very proud of her for sticking with it,said Hall.”
根据本段中的“I feel a person's pictures should be his or her own”可知,作者认为照片归自己孩子所有,故推知其要保护孩子的隐私。
根据文中第四段中的“because the schools where they learn, like so many others up and down the country, post their pictures to social media.”
根据文中第五段中的“However, my husband thought I was overanxious and asked me a question about its advantages.”
根据文中倒数第二段中的“the time it takes to manage an account, often by a teacher, meaning extra work”可知,学校使用社交媒体来展示孩子们的照片,这样的做法会增加老师的任务量。
根据第一段中的“The earliest simple computer, the Chinese abacus dates back to thousands of years ago, consisting of rows of beads on a wooden frame used for counting."
根据第三段中的“Laptop computers are lightweight and small enough to be carried by users who need computers and the Internet access to them in different places."
