With the official London basketball league having been delayed (延迟) until the next year, it seemed that a street tournament would be the perfect way to get players together to enjoy their sport.“A lot of people badly wanted to get back on the court and were happy to get active again,”says Nhyira.“I wanted to create an atmosphere of peace, love and positivity among the young people in our community. We are aware of the stormy times we are in, and this shows how we can all get along and be united as one.”The tournament took place on a sunny morning. The court was full of players warming up and practising their shots. Some were already dunking (扣篮) the ball to the cheers of their competitors. Players were divided into teams of four. On one side of the court were those who play together in local teams; on the other, those who had only just met, having seen the tournament advertisement. The games were played according to half-court rules, and as soon as the whistle (口哨) blew, the environment became charged with tension (紧张) and excitement. As the intensity of the games increased, the court grew louder and livelier. Suddenly, one player injured his knee and an ambulance was called. Everyone clapped and shouted encouragement as he was wheeled away. As teams were eliminated (淘汰), players that had been knocked out remained around the court to watch the drama unfold. The final game finished at around 4.30 pm and the atmosphere court-side was as though people had witnessed the final of the NBA.In what situation did Nhyira decide to organise an impromptu tournament?Big sports games had been delayed.Basketball started to gain popularity in London.Londoners were losing their basketball enthusiasm.Sports games were becoming increasingly competitive. What was Nhyira's purpose in organising the tournament? To raise competitive spirit. To support street tournaments. To bring the community together. To improve the community's basketball skills. What happened during the tournament? Many players left the court early. Some players were late for the games. An NBA player came to watch the games. An ambulance came to pick up an injured player. What can be learned about the tournament?A. It was quite fierce. B. It was a full-court game.C. It was held in the afternoon. D. It was shown live on social media.CSometimes it can be difficult to work out what someone is saying when they're wearing a face mask. But for people who are deaf or have hearing loss, it can make communicating even more challenging. Because masks cover people's mouths, it can be impossible to lip-read.Eleven-year-old Austin — who's deaf and relies on lip-reading — wants to make things better though. He's encouraging more people to wear face masks with a clear window so their mouths can be seen. Austin even wrote to Prime Minister Boris Johnson asking for his help to introduce see-through face masks across the country. For months, nine UK charities, including the National Deaf Children's Society and the British Deaf Association, have been encouraging Public Health England to give out transparent (透明的) face masks that will stop those with hearing loss feeling isolated (孤立的).Sarah White, from charity Sense, said that while clear masks can still present a challenge to some people “ it certainly is a great first step”.Sally Etchells, from the National Deaf Children's Society, added: “If face masks become widespread and none of them are transparent, deaf people will face months of misery (痛苦) as they struggle to understand what's being said to them, putting them at an even higher risk of isolation and loneliness.”Face masks can especially be a problem for deaf people when they're in hospital — they can mean that it's hard to understand what doctors and nurses are saying due to the medical protection masks being worn. Now, the government has said that 250,000 clear face masks will be given out to social care workers across the UK.Everyone can do their bit to help make communicating easier for deaf people. For example, wearing a clear face mask, or simply being aware that across the UK, people don't have to wear a mask if they are speaking to, or helping someone, who relies on lip-reading and facial expressions. Why did Austin write to Boris Johnson? To thank him for his support. To ask him to popularize transparent face masks. To complain about medical treatments in England. To tell him about the importance of wearing face masks. What have the nine UK charities mentioned in paragraph 3 been doing?Collecting more face masks for hospitals.Encouraging people to donate to deaf people.Teaching health care workers how to lip-read.Making efforts to spread clear face masks across the UK.What did Sally Etchells say about see-through face masks? They are convenient for deaf people. They should be used in hospitals first. They are more expensive than common masks. They may present a challenge to some people. How can people help the deaf according to the author?By volunteering as social care workers.By involving deaf people in social activities.By simply wearing a see-through face mask.By donating clear face masks to doctors and nurses.DWhen I was eight, I got my first pair of glasses. Far from being teased at school, the only struggle I got was endless requests to try on my new glasses. Hearing about what happened at school, my father once looked at me and asked whether I had faked the blindness just to look like Harry Potter? With my cropped hair and glasses, I did look like a tiny girl Harry. And while the similarity was not deliberate, I did nothing to avoid it, either. The Harry Potter books were the great pop cultural event of my generation, who began reading again. My school librarian, both confused and annoyed by us Pottermaniacs, dealt with fights over the school’s few old copies by setting out a new rule: Harry Potter could be borrowed for only three days, instead of the whole week of loan (借出) period every other title was allowed.I grew up with Harry and together we became children with our own opinions, teens easy to get angry and young adults thinking of everything as normal. When the final book came out in 2007, I read it for 12 hours without a break and cried as I finished it. I felt something sad; the end of Harry’s story signalled the end of my childhood. Meanwhile, my now Potter-mad father walked impatiently nearby, waiting for the proper moment to take the book away from his daughter.Harry Potter did shape my generation. As a girl who grew up mostly in peacetime, many of the ideas I found in these books were ones we had never come across before. A study found that teenage Harry Potter readers showed more tolerance towards those who were suffering. Is it possible that Harry Potter, in the 20 years he has been with us, has inspired a generation to be more empathic (感同身受的), welcoming and socially open-minded than those before it? We will see. If not, at least my glasses are still cool. The author’s purpose in writing the first paragraph is to show .her suffering caused by the glassesher close relations with other studentsthe popularity of Harry Potter among studentsthe misunderstanding between her father and herHow did the school librarian stop the fights between Pottermaniacs?By selling the Harry Potter books in the library.By buying more Harry Potter books for the library.By making a new rule for Harry Potter’s loan period.By preventing Pottermaniacs borrowing Harry Potter many times. Why did the author cry when she read Harry Potter that came out in 2007?Because she suddenly found that she was too old to read Harry Potter.Because she was sad to know the 2007 book was the last Harry Potter book.Because her father was waiting for a chance to take her Harry Potter away.Because she didn’t want to read other books except Harry Potter. What’s the main idea of the last paragraph?Harry Potter has a great influence on the author’s generation. The characters in Harry Potter were created through great imagination.Compared with other people, Harry Potter readers are more tolerant.Reading Harry Potter is important for children living in peacetime.第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Cold weather during winter months may keep many people from leaving home and running in the open air. 36______. However, I have always believed that girls need to be brave above all else, but this is easier said than done. I still remember I couldn’t see the screen directly when my daughter switched to the animal channel, which was broadcasting a show about snakes. I stood as far away from the TV as possible, too scared to open my eyes. However, my little angel was not scared of the snakes. In fact, she watched the show with a keen interest. I was relieved that my daughter didn’t get too many genetic phobias(遗传恐惧症). Even to this day, she is still obsessed with(对...着迷) challenging herself with new things. This year, I got a chance to study in Singapore for six months. After the novelty (新奇感) of the first few days had gone, I found myself missing my family. With the summer vacation approaching, my husband agreed to make good use of the fact that I was staying in Singapore. He brought our daughter out to visit me and to enjoy the new experience in a new country. The reunion day finally came. My husband and my daughter arrived in the second week of July. I was so looking forward to seeing them. I had made many preparations for their visit. On the first day, I arranged for us to see Gardens by the Bay. When we walked out of the MRT station, we were amazed by the sight of the Super Trees. When my daughter saw lots of people walking on the Skyway(空中走道), she couldn’t help shouting excitedly that she wanted to have a try. The Skyway is a 22-meter-high suspension bridge(悬索桥) from which you can enjoy a bird’s eye view. Last time I came here with my friends, I firmly rejected their repeated attempts to challenge me to go up there. It was like the day with the snakes all over again. But could I really reject my little angel? 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。Paragraph 1: My daughter was waiting for my reply. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2: Halfway across the bridge, I had to stop._________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________2021春 高二月考(一)英语 答案详解1-5 ABABC 6-10 BCBCC 11-15 AACCB 16-20 ACABC 21-25 BCDAC 26-30 DABDA ,31-35 CCCBA 36-40 FBDGE41-45 BCABD 46-50 CADBD 51-55 DCBDA56. Congratulations to you ! As your best friend, I take pride in you! Your proficiency in Chinese character as well as your deep dive into Chinese culture has left a lasting impression. I really wish to improve my English, so could you please share with me your own experience and unique ideas on language learning? I would be grateful if you could write me back. Looking forward to your early reply. Thank you in advance! Li Hua第二节Paragraph 1: My daughter was waiting for my reply. I looked at her, then at the Skyway. I felt my heart threatening to burst out from my chest. My husband, who was used to this kind of situation and understood how scared I was, consoled me. He said he could go with our little girl instead. But my daughter wouldn’t give up easily and shouted out her own encouragement. I plucked up my courage and took my first step onto the suspension bridge, then another. I inched forward, all the way holding on tight to the handrail.Paragraph 2: Halfway across the bridge, I had to stop. I stood there, and my legs trembled despite my attempt to stay calm. Below the bridge, the treetops formed an ocean of green waves that threatened to devour me. Just then, I heard a familiar voice, and two little hands slipped into my arm. Looking down, I saw my little angel’s bright smile, which encouraged me to finish the walk. Eventually, we reached the end together. My husband was surprised at my nerve, but I knew the reason why I had felt so brave was my little girl. (175 words) 阅读理解第一节 A篇: 人与社会——社会服务。本文是应用文。文章介绍了慈善组织Where is Willie Foundation的捐赠与志愿服务活动。21. I've read most of these magazines twice.M: Well, if it helps, I'll run to the store and get you some new ones.(Text 2) W: Matt, did you eat the chocolate cake on the table?M: No. It was really hot in the kitchen because the oven was on, so I put it somewhere cool — the second shelf of the fridge, by the bowl of salad.(Text 3) M: How was your trip to the beach? Did you go for a swim?W: I thought I would, but it was a bit cold, so we hired a little boat instead and sailed round the bay. That was fun, but not as much fun as playing volleyball on the beach. (Text 4) W: Hello, this is Anna. I ordered some books from you last week.M: Let me see. The Sandham Castle has come in, but Make Your Fashion is taking longer than we expected, and I think we told you that Saving Tigers is quite an old book, so it's harder to find. They won't be in until Thursday. (Text 5) W: Can I borrow a lemon? I need to make some biscuits. I had a whole basketful but they've gone bad already.M: Sure. Next time you might try putting them in a covered jar.W: Oh, I've heard of keeping them in the fridge.(Text 6) M: Good morning, Nouveau Hair. How may I help you?W: Hi, I'd like to make an appointment.M: Well, we're fully booked today. What type of hair appointment would you like? Cut? Color? W: Um, more of a consultation really. You see, I tried to color my hair at home. But it didn't really work out as I expected. The box said “Dark brown”, but it turned out bright orange! I can't go to work like this. (Text 7) M: This is like something out of a movie: I can't believe we're stuck in here. Do you think they heard the alarm?W: I hope so. Anyway, I'm Kay.M: Pleased to meet you, Kay. I'm Pete. I hope someone comes to let us out soon.W: Well, who knows how long we'll be in here? This building is rather old.M: It seems like a very nice building though. Actually, I'm just visiting a friend who lives on the fourth floor.W: I live on the fourth floor! We must be neighbors. What's your friend's name? (Text 8) M: Tell the class what course you took here at the college?W: I originally wanted to major in advertising, though my parents wanted me to study medicine. But I found it was too hard because of my English. So I changed my direction. I'm glad I did because now I have a qualification in nutritional science, and that's how I managed to get a job with the community.M: What exactly do you do there?W: I make sure that the meals prepared for the elderly in the community are nutritionally balanced. It's a very demanding job, but I like it. I spend most of my day in a laboratory but sometimes I talk to older people to find out if the food is tasty enough. I also spend some time in the kitchens, making sure the food is of good quality. (Text 9) M: Lily! How was your flight? W: Oh, fine. And the hotel is wonderful. It's got these amazing baths. So when can we meet?M: Well, tonight's impossible. I'm seeing Paul, a Hungarian friend. W: That's fine — I'm a bit tired anyway.M: How about tomorrow? I'm meeting students during the day, but I'm free in the evening.W: I've got a business dinner tomorrow night. Are you doing anything the night after tomorrow? M: Sorry, but I'm playing tennis with three of my friends. We always play on Tuesday nights, so I can't cancel it. And I'm going to Vienna on Wednesday. What about Thursday night?W: Thursday's fine. Are you going to take me to that restaurant you mentioned?M: Of course.W: And then perhaps you can show me round a bit on Friday? I'm free in the afternoon.M: Sorry. Friday afternoon's no good. I'm going to the dentist's at four. But maybe after dinner on Thursday, we can go for a walk and you can see Budapest at night. I can pick you up at the hotel at about 7:30. (Text 10) At 8:00 tonight, Make Me Famous — the hugely popular program based on the search for a new singing star reaches its final. Out of the twenty who started, there are now just three singers left. After that, at 9:00, there's something for the many people who enjoy programs about the natural world. This is a repeat of the series called Big Cats. It shows the lives of a group of lions living in Kenya. Later tonight at 10:00 a new drama comes to our TV screens. Distant Songs is the latest from hot young writer Josh Stone. And I was really looking forward to this and expecting something good. However, I have to say I was disappointed. The actors do their best, but they just can't make a dull story exciting. My advice is this. Don't watch this, or the terrible comedy Good Education which follows an hour later. Stay awake for tonight's midnight movie, which is The Bicycle Thieves made in 1948. And still, in my opinion, one of the greatest films ever made, if you've never seen it before, don't miss this opportunity to see it.
