1.阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Whatever life threw at us each year, come Christmas our family had one constant tradition: our dog Pepper opened our presents for us. Watching our sweet dog unwrap gifts always warmed the holiday, which was often a little bittersweet because college, studying abroad, or work commitments often kept my two sisters and me away.
One year, everyone made it home for a Christmas together. I visited from college, Kaci flew in from Arizona, and Kara was back from Ireland. Mom’s jubilance kept her busy baking cookies for us all. Our Christmas season should have been perfect.
It couldn’t feel perfect, though, because Pepper’s health was deteriorating. Her life had already been longer than we expected —she was fourteen —and yet her mind was still sharp. Her enthusiasm for life made us feel better. But her body could not keep up with her spirit. She’d already shown the usual signs of deafness and stiffness. That year, her hips and back legs started giving out on her. We knew we would soon have to make a difficult decision.
It was likely Pepper’s last Christmas, so we decided to make sure she enjoyed it. On Christmas Eve, we gathered around the tree to open an early present. We each took a turn and then called Pepper to open one more. But her tangled legs could not navigate the boxes and shredded wrapping paper on the floor. She stumbled over the obstacles, and soon she disappeared into the next room. She crumpled back to the floor, as out of the way as she could get.
We were heartbroken. Could Pepper even participate in her last Christmas? Pepper stayed on the periphery of all our holiday activities. Throughout the day, we gave gifts but did not feel very giving. We shared stories over cinnamon rolls that tasted bland. We played games by the tree whose twinkles had dimmed.
That evening, Kaci said what we’d all been thinking: “I wish Pepper could have helped open presents this year.” We all put down our mugs of spiced tea. “Maybe she still could,” Kara said. “But there’s none left,” Mom reminded her. Kara jumped up and left the room. We heard her opening drawers and cabinets in the kitchen.

2.阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
I live with my husband in San Luis Obispo, California, about three miles from the beach. Every few years, the humpback whales come into the bay for a few days while they’re migrating. November 2020 was one of those times, so we took out our yellow double kayak(皮艇)to watch the wildlife. We paddled out the length of the pier(码头)and saw seals, dolphins, and about 20 whales feeding on silverfish. We were in awe watching these graceful giants—each one about 50 feet long—breach and spray through their blowholes. We laughed when they turned their side fins so that it looked as if they were waving at us.
At the time, my friend Liz was staying with us. The next day, I asked her if she wanted to go out on the water to see them.
“No way,” said Liz, now 65. She was not an experienced kayaker and was terrified that the kayak would overturn while we were surrounded by hungry whales. “There’s nothing to worry about,” I assured her. “The craft is stable, and we can turn back anytime. I’ve learned somewhere that whales have enormous mouths but tiny throats. Anything they can`t swallow they spit right out.” After some cajoling(劝诱), she finally agreed to join me. I didn’t want her to miss this magnificent experience and regret it later.
Liz and I got out on the water at 8:30 the following morning. There were already about 15 other kayakers and paddleboarders in the bay. It was warm for November, so we wore T-shirts and leggings. After a half-hour, we had our first whale sighting just past the pier: two humpbacks swimming toward us. How amazing to be that close to a creature that size, I thought as the whales dipped under the waterline.
When whales go down after breaching, they leave what looks like an oil slick on the water. I figured if we paddled toward that spot, we’d be safe from the whales, since they’d just left. We followed them at a distance—or what I thought was a distance. I later found out that it’s recommended to keep 300 feet away. We were more like 60 feet away.

3.阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Mr. Watson’s store was widely known throughout the neighborhood. It sold many different things. Every day after school, Jess came to the store and he loved to look at the pipes (烟斗). One pipe especially caught his eye. He imagined that some day he would be a grown man and could smoke a pipe, just like this one. He did not remember his father, but he knew his dad smoked a pipe.
Jess reached out and touched the pipe. He kept thinking that when he was old enough, he would go to work and his mother could stay home. He would not have to wait three hours after school until she came home from her job. Oh, why? He wondered, did it take so long to grow up and take his father’s place.
He looked around the store and put the bowl of the pipe in his hand. He just wanted to get the feel of it — nothing more. He was lost in his dream, wishing he could be like his father.
Suddenly he was shocked out of his dream. He heard footsteps behind him. He turned around quickly. It was Mr. Watson, the friendly store owner. Jess was unable to move.
“Hello, Jess,” Mr. Watson said, and kept on walking. Jess struggled to answer but could not get his voice up. He swallowed and smiled weakly as Mr. Watson walked away. Jess’s thoughts became unclear. Was he suspicious?
Suddenly the store seemed extremely warm. Jess watched his feet begin to move and take him out of the store. He felt the cool air outside and it was good, yet, he felt an emptiness inside himself. Like one walking in his sleep, he moved toward the ground. He looked around and saw the empty swings. He slipped into one and leaned against its chain. The cold metal links hurt his side.
Sitting on the swing, he gave the ground a push with one foot. A sharp pain caught him in the stomach. He knew it was the pipe he felt. He had walked out of the store with it.

When the last customer left, it was already 10:30 pm. Eric, an 18-year-old college student in Atlanta, dragged himself home. In order to save money to buy himself the new mountain bike, he had been working at KFC for over a month that summer vacation. He already had 120 dollars. With one more week, he would have his dream bike.
Entering his room, Eric found his younger brother Bill sitting on the edge of his bed with an uneasy expression on his face.
“Sorry, Eric. I ... I did something wrong,” Bill sprang up and said nervously.
“What is it?”
“This afternoon I went to play football on the road outside our house and accidentally hit our neighbor Mr. White’s car. I was so scared and I ... I hurried home in panic without telling him.”
“Is the car seriously damaged?”
“The ball hit the front hard and the left headlight of it got broken.”
“It’s truly your fault. It’s really dangerous to play football on the road. What’s worse, you shouldn’t come back without telling Mr. Smith about it,” Eric raised his voice, obviously annoyed. Hearing this, Bill lowered his head and bit his lips hard.
“Anyway, it’s no use crying over spilt milk. And it is too late today. We have to deal with it tomorrow. Now you just go to bed.”
When Bill went bed, Eric couldn’t go to sleep himself. Father always told him to be honest, to be a man respected by people and to be an example of his brother. He was sorry for his brother’s behavior. He shouldn’t have run away after he did something wrong. But he could understand him. Anyway, he was only a boy of seven and what had happened really scared him. But as his elder brother, he should do something about it although this may delay his plan of having the mountain bike. “Nothing serious, just another week in KFC,” he said to himself.

5.阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之成为一个完整的故事。
“You should get a dog.” my therapist (治疗专家) said. A dog? I couldn’t even look after myself. I took a deep breath and carefully considered the idea of welcoming a canine (犬科的) friend into my life. This seemed like too easy a solution to the fact that I couldn't leave the house without bursting into tears.
Adopting an animal during the height of the pandemic was far from easy. When I found Simba, his adoption profile made him out as the perfect puppy. I filed out the paperwork and had a few weeks to prepare for his arrival.
When he came home, it became increasingly obvious that Simba didn’t understand “no”, “stop it’ or “don’t do that”. He was the worst-behaved dog I’d ever seen. I was beginning to doubt my therapist’s advice.
At home, I found him sitting on my bed comfortably. Jumping from the sofa to the tea table was his favorite game every day. He fought tooth and nail to get a bite of my meals and ate anything that fell on the floor. What was worse, dog waste and urine were seen everywhere, which annoyed me most. But his curiosity and vigor really impressed me. Training him to behave well kept me busier than I’d ever expected.
I decided to start taking him for walks. I could barely leave the house before, but my heart couldn’t say no to Simba. Simba showed me what bravery looked like. He didn’t stop to consider every possible outcome of a situation. He simply went for it. If there was a dog at a park,he would run toward it. He always leapt forward and explored the unknown by sniffing here and there unless I called him. He loved adventure. I found myself mirroring his behavior after a while, jumping out of bed without a second thought. I began to find the motivation to get out of bed in the morning.

In high school, I was a straight-A student, a member of many school clubs, and a receiver of many rewards. However, I had been subjected to (受到……折磨) peer pressure. Wanting to be “cool!”, I started going to parties and drinking, drunk beyond recognition. My life took a tum for the worse. However, the experience in one summer program taught me a lesson: never do something you believe is wrong just to gain the approval of others.
In June, I worked part-time at a restaurant. The day before I left for the program, one co-worker offered me his driver’s license, telling me to have fun in Quebec since we two almost looked the same. I’d seen friends walk into liquor (酒) stores with fake licenses and come out carrying a twelve-pack of beer, smiling proudly. So I took the license, but I promised myself that I wouldn’t use it. However, I easily got carried away.
On the first night of the program, while walking around, my new friends and I came across a liquor store. Kai asked if anyone had a fake license. After everyone shook his head, I cleared my throat and declared, “I do.” With everyone’s admiration and Kai’s twenty dollars and instruction, I boldly agreed to take on the task without thinking. I managed to buy a case of beer. The boys cheered and gave me pats on the back. “You’re the man,” someone said to me. The praise boosted my self-confidence.
The last night there was a party. A few of my friends insisted that we drink before the dance. They asked me, the “ID man,” to buy alcohol. To earn their admiration, I took the cash and bought what they wanted. Later that night, I was enjoying myself when Kai said nervously, “Cristian isn’t okay.” Worried for my friend, I went to assess the situation. Clearly, Cristian was overly drunk and almost unconscious (不省人事的).

Amy Hagadom, a third-grade girl in Fort Wayne, Indiana, impressed people all across the country by bravely speaking up to make a simple yet remarkable wish.
As Amy Hagadorn rounded the comer across the hall from her classroom, she knocked into a tall boy from the fifth grade running in the opposite direction.
“Watch it, squirt (矮子).” The boy yelled as he passed by the little third-grader. Then, with a bad smile on his face, the boy took hold of his right leg and copied the way Amy limped (跛行) when she walked.
Amy closed her eyes. Ignore him, she told herself as she headed for her classroom. But at the end of the day, Amy was still thinking about the tall boy's mean teasing. It wasn't as if he were the only one. It seemed that ever since Amy started the third grade, someone teased her every single day. Kids teased her about her speech or her limping. Amy was tired of it. Sometimes, even in a classroom full of other students, the teasing made her feel very lonely.
Back home at the dinner table that evening, Amy was quiet. Her mother knew that things were not going well at school. That’s why Patti Hagadorn was happy to have some exciting news to share with her daughter.
“There’s a Christmas wish contest on the radio station,”Amy’s mom announced.“Write a letter to Santa, and you might win a prize.”
Amy giggled. The contest sounded like fun. She started thinking about what she wanted most for Christmas.
A smile took hold of Amy when the idea first came to her. Out came pencil and paper, and Amy went to work on her letter.
Dear Santa Claus.
My name is Amy. I am nine years old. I have a problem at school. Can you help me Santa? Kids laugh at me because of the way I walk and run and talk. I have a serious disease. I just want one day where no one laughs at me or makes fun of me. Love, Amy.

Kelly was driving through rural Alabama with her five-year-old son, Rocky Lyons. He was asleep on the front seat of their pickup truck, with his feet resting on her lap.
As Kelly drove carefully down the winding two-lane country road, she turned onto a narrow bridge. As she did, the truck hit a large hole and slid off the road, and the right front wheel got stuck in a deep track. Fearing the truck would tip over, she attempted to jerk (急拉) it back up onto the road by pressing hard on the gas pedal and spinning the steering wheel to the left. But Rocky’s foot got caught between her leg and the steering wheel and she lost control of the pickup truck.
The truck flipped over and over down a 20-foot narrow valley. When it hit bottom, Rocky woke up. “What happened, Mama?” he asked. “Our wheels are pointing toward the sky.”
Kelly was blinded by blood. The gear shift (变速杆) had jammed into her face, ripping it open from lip to forehead. Her gums were torn out, her cheeks pulverized (粉状的), her shoulders crushed. With one broken rib sticking out of her body, she was pinned against the crushed door.
“I’ll get you out, Mama,” announced Rocky, who had miraculously escaped injury. He crawled out from under Kelly, slid through the open window and tried to pull his mother out. But she didn’t move.
“Just let me sleep,” begged Kelly, who was drifting in and out of consciousness.
“No, Mama,” Rocky insisted. “You can’t go to sleep.”
Rocky wriggled back into the truck and managed to push Kelly out of the wreckage. He then told her he’d climb up to the road and stop a car to get help. Fearing that no one would be able to see her little boy in the dark, Kelly refused to let him go alone. Instead they slowly crept up the embankment (路堤), with Rocky using his thin 40-pound frame to push his 104-pound mother.

I wasn’t the most popular kid in my freshman year. I wasn’t into fashion, preferred reading to sports, had difficulty talking to boys. Therefore, the first year of high school hadn’t been kind to me. I had no close friends. I mostly kept to myself with my head buried in a book.
Ashley was very different from me. She was outspoken and fashionable. She was quite popular. These were qualities I knew nothing about. We had always been in the same classes throughout school, but had never talked much.
During summer school, we were both taking classes. The teacher paired us up on an assignment. We met at the library to work on the project and really got well. Of course, Ashley did most of the talking. When classes ended we continued to hang out.
I looked up to Ashley; she was all of the things I thought I wanted to be. I began listening to the music she listened to, wearing the clothes she wore. I quit reading and started watching the TV programs Ashley watched. I even tailored my sophomore (大二) year schedule to her interests. I decided to take art class even though I had really wanted to take theatre.
When we started school again, Ashley introduced me to her group of friends, the “cool girls.” She was the leader of their group. Finally I fit in. I followed them around, laughing when they told jokes, agreeing when they had opinions. I didn’t say much. I wouldn’t want them to think that I was being rude by disagreeing. This continued for several months.
One day, I overheard Ashley and her friends were talking about me.
“She’s such a loser,” one girl said to the group. “Ashley, she just follows you around trying to be you. She copies you; she doesn’t have a personality of her own.”
Then Ashley replied, “I know, I wish she would leave us alone. We were in summer school together and now she thinks we’re best friends or something.”

10.阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
It was a break time at the village school. The bell had rung, and the children had run out into the bright sunshine, wild with laughter and fun. They chased after each other and played heartily, with giggles lingering in the relaxing atmosphere.
All but poor Davy. He came out last and very slowly, but he did not laugh. He was in trouble, and the bright, golden sunlight did not make him glad.
He walked across the yard, and sat down on a stone behind the old maple. A little bird on the highest branch sang just to make him laugh.
But Davy did not notice it. He was thinking of the cruel words that had been said about his ragged clothes. The tears stole out of his eyes, and ran down his cheeks. He closed his eyes to hold back his tears and bit his lips tight.
Poor Davy had no father, and his mother had to work hard to keep him at school. The bell finally rang, indicating it’s time to come home.
At four o’clock that afternoon, he went home by the path that led across the fields and through the woods. He still felt sad. Davy did not wish to trouble his mother; so he wandered a while among the trees, and at last threw himself on the green moss (苔藓) under them.
Just then his teacher came along. She saw who it was, and stopped, saying kindly, “What is the matter, Davy?”
He drooped his head and did not utter a word, but the tears began again to well up.
“Won’t you tell me? Perhaps I can help you.”
Deeply encouraged by her warmth and sincerity, he poured out all his trouble he came across. When he ended, she was lost in deep thought and for a while she came up, gave Davy a consoling pat and said, cheerily, “I have a plan, Davy, that I think will help you.”
“Oh, what is it?” he said, sitting up with a look of hope, while a tear fell upon a blue violet (紫罗兰).
“Well, how would you like to be a little flower merchant?”

参考答案
1.One possible version:
Kara returned with a box of dog biscuits, scissors, a pile of color paper, and a roll of tape. She cut a small section from the paper and wrapped a single dog treat in it. She held it up as if she had just struck gold. “Now there’s a present for her!” I knelt on the floor next to Kara and wrapped another. Kaci and Mom joined in, too. Soon, we had four elegantly wrapped dog biscuits in a row on the floor. we cleared the floor of discarded wrapping paper. “Go get Pepper,” we urged, bouncing eagerly. Mom went into the next room. “You wanna open a present, girl” she coaxed. In a moment, Pepper stuck her head into the room, ears fully perked with anticipation and curiosity. Skidded on stilted legs to the row of presents, she sniffed all four in order and looked back and forth. She d never had such a wide choice before.
Soon, Pepper selected her first Christmas gift. She nimbly turned the present with her forepaw, just like she was a spry young dog once more. She tugged every last scrap of paper off the dog treat before she chewed it with her customary grace. Our family swelled with glee. Pepper licked the last crumb from the floor. She eyed the remaining three presents, then turned to Mom as if asking, “May I please open another?” “Go ahead, girl!” Mom encouraged. For the next few minutes, Pepper opened each of her Christmas presents. While she did, she reminded us of the sheer joy of being together. Our family felt whole — not because we were in the same room, city, or country, but because our love bonded us together.

Suddenly, we felt our kayak rocking violently. A tightly packed swarm of fish, started jumping out of the water into our kayak. Their movement sounded like crackling glass all around us. We then realized, to our wide-eyed horror, that the whales were charging toward us. I tried, with all my might, to pedal to safety, only to find we were in the middle of nowhere. Our kayak was lifted out of the water about six feet, bracketed by massive jaws. Liz and I slipped out of the kayak into the whale’s mouth. My body was engulfed except for my right arm and my paddle. Fright however, deprived Liz, my poor partner, of her ability to speak, to think and to fight.
Paragraph 2:
Still, I didn’t panic and I just kept thinking I’ve got to breathe in this “white wall”. My previous knowledge about whales proved to be true. As soon as the whale dipped underwater, it spit us out, and we popped back up onto the surface about a foot apart. The entire ordeal lasted only about 10 seconds. And I felt so blessed that we were both all fours. “I thought we were dead!” Liz said. We were not, of course. But I am much more aware of the power of nature and the ocean than I was before. Liz was shaken up, likening the ordeal to a near-death experience. But even she had to laugh when she got home that afternoon and realized she’d brought back a souvenir. When she pulled off her shirt, six silverfish flopped out.

3. The sun was slipping down through the trees and it was time to go home. His mother would look at him and she would know. She always knew. A hot tear ran down his cheek. She trusted him. He remembered the nice way she said, “You’re a little man now, Jess.” It made him sad when his mother’s words came back to him. Remembering this, he felt as if someone had stuck a sharp stick into his side. Her trust in him was all he could think about now. It drove everything else from his mind. The pipe and its magic power meant nothing. His dream of growing up meant nothing .
Looking at the long shadows of the trees coming towards him, Jess now knew what he had to do. He jumped out of the swing and started running. When he took the pipe, he left the store with slow unsure steps. Now his feet were quick decisive, taking him straight back to the store like an arrow. He ran along the sidewalk and reached the store soon. Mr. Watson was just inside the door. Suddenly and blindly, he held out the pipe. Mr. Watson gently took the pipe from the boy’s outstretched hand and patted him on the shoulder.Jess felt the warmth of Mr Watson’s big hand, and felt his shoulders had become a little broader and stronger.

He told Bill, “We should go to Mr. Smith’s house as early as possible and explain to him what had happened.” Before they went out, he took out all the money he had earned in the KFC during the summer holiday. Bill knew that his dear brother wanted to pay for his fault with the money. Tears filled his eyes, because he knew very well how his brother wanted to get the mountain bike! Seeing this, Eric wiped off the tears in his brother’s face and said, “I can earn money in the future, but we can’t lose our honest!”
Mr. Smith was a little surprised to see the brothers. “Mr. Smith, I’m here to make an apology,” said Eric. Then he told Mr. Smith what had happened and drew out the money from his pocket. “This is all the money I have. I wonder if it can pay for your loss,” he said to Mr. Smith with sincerity. “Good boys, I truly appreciate your honesty. Just forget about my car.” Finally, he declined to get the money but accepted their suggestions of doing some work in his garden. With this, the brothers left Mr. Smith’s house in a relieved mood. What a good result! Bill got back honest and Eric could still have his dream mountain bike.

5.Ten minutes later, Simba and I were walking in the nearby park. It had already been bathed in the rising sun. Enjoying the fresh air and birds singing, I felt refreshed and so did Simba. He led me into a dancing group and then began to run about loosely, sometimes playing with a dog, sometimes coming back to my side. It was amazing that I gradually shook my body to the cheerful melody. On our way home, a pet owner stopped to share experience of keeping pets. Unconsciously, morning walks became a routine
As time went by, I found myself totally changed. Inspired by the bravery of Simba, I could leave my house without tears. Every time I felt down or defeated, my puppy would keep me company quietly and I would pour out all my inner thoughts to him. Whenever I got home, he greeted me by licking my hands and jumping up and down. Everything seemed to take a turn for the better. Not until then did I truly understand my therapist's advice. Thanks to Simba, my friend and instructor, it was he that restored my life.

Suddenly, something went wrong: Cristian fell to the ground. Seeing his pale face, I stiffened, totally not knowing what to do. Luckily, someone called 911 and Cristian was pulled into the ambulance, and I saw his unconscious face drooping over the white sheet. I had never seen a situation like this before and I was guilty, not only for buying the beer but also for the risks I put him at. Later I was told Cristian’s condition was serious, but fortunately he didn’t suffer any permanent damage. The whole night found me tossing and turning, worrying about the mess I had caused.
The next day, I was called to the program director’s office. He asked if I bought the alcohol. I knew that there was no point in denying the truth. So I admitted everything that happened. Like a caught criminal, I was overcome with shame. My punishment was much less than what I deserved: I was merely expelled from the program. Back home, I shredded the fake driver’s license and threw it away. Through this experience, I learned an important lesson: never do something you believe is wrong just because someone else is telling you to and don’t sacrifice anyone’s well-being to gain the approval of others.

8.Paragraph 1:
They crawled inches at a time. The pain was so great that Kelly wanted to give up, but Rocky wouldn’t let her. To urge his mother on, Rocky told her to think about how, once, she encouraged him to be braver when he encountered difficulties. To remind her mom, Rocky even repeated lyrics of a song from her mom: “I know you can.” When they finally reached the road, Rocky was able to see his mother’s torn face clearly. He broke into tears at once. Luckily, a truck came towards them. “Stop! Please stop!” Waving his arms and pleading, Rocky hailed the truck. “Get my mama to a hospital,” he implored the driver, who rushed them to the nearest hospital. (116 w)
Paragraph 2:
It took 8 hours and 344 stitches (缝针) to rebuild Kelly’s face. She looked quite different today. She used to have a straight long nose, thin lips and high cheekbones, now she got a pug nose, flat cheeks and much bigger lips instead. She also had a few other visible scars. But whatever, Kelly recovered from her injuries and she couldn’t be prouder of her son, or more grateful, “If it weren’t for Rocky, I’d have bled to death. You know, how difficult the situation was to a five-year-old boy.” Rocky’s heroics were big news then. But the spunky youngster insisted he didn’t do anything extraordinary. “I just did what anyone would have done.” he explained. (109 w)

9.One possible version:
I stood rooted to the spot, feeling mortified (受辱的) and heartbroken. My hands were shaking, my face felt hot, and my eyes began to wet with uncontrollable tears. How had this happened? I thought we were friends. I didn’t know Ashley thought of me in that way. I couldn’t stay there and listen anymore. I ran home and told my mother what had happened. She just held me while I sobbed for hours. After I calmed down, she patted my head and said gently, “Just be yourself and people will like you for who you are.”
Hearing my mom’s advice, l decided I was going to stop crying and discover who I was. Ashley and I didn’t speak anymore after that. Over the next month, I went through a lot of changes. I rediscovered reading, and developed my own opinions. I never again just followed the crowd. I dropped art class and joined theatre. I began making new friends who liked me for who I was. The friends I made in theatre are still my great friends to this day. When I look back, I consider it a gift. What they said about me were true. If I hadn’t been given the chance to realize it, I might have been too concerned with “fitting in” to experience some of the best times of my life.

Clusters of lovely blue violets adhered to the trees, white ones adorned the backs of the river, and among the rocks were ferns and mosses. They looked like an angel, unfolding in the wind and under the sun. For the first time Davy was really arrested by the scene. His teacher narrated her plan that Davy picked some flowers and brought them all to her house. Then, they arranged flowers beautifully together for a purchase. Struck by the amazing idea, Davy nodded his head firm and held his teacher’s hand as his smile grew.
Para2: So, with the plan in mind. Davy hunted the woods for the prettiest flowers. Excited and cautious, he placed them in the basket, and trotted all his way to his teacher’s house. Subsequently, they would be sorted out discreetly, trimmed for a better look and wrapped in paper of different colors. Everything done, Davy took them to the city that was near, and sold them. The first move was a hit and customers were totally impressed by the flowers. A little flower merchant was popular in the city. He soon earned enough money to buy new clothes. Now the sunshine and the bird’s songs made him glad.
