Fr many years, schl children in the US have been taken n ‘field trips’ t cultural institutins such as museums f art. Educatrs arrange them in the belief that schls exist nt nly t teach ecnmically useful skills, but als t prduce civilized yung peple wh appreciate the art and culture. While there are parents wh will take their children t cultural places in their free time, there are plenty f ther children wh will never have this kind f pprtunity unless schls ffer it. S yu culd say that taking schl students n field trips is a means f giving everyne equal access t their cultural heritage.
Hwever, the attitude twards field trips in recent years is changing, with the number f turs rganized fr schl grups falling significantly in museums all arund the cuntry. The mst bvius reasn is the issue f finance. Because there are increasing demands n their funds, after all, cmputers and sprts facilities(设备) aren’t cheap, schls are frced t make a difficult chice abut hw t spend the limited mney they have. Faced with this dilemma(困境), field trips are an bvius thing t cut since they are seen by many as a luxury(奢侈品).
Additinally, the nature f these field days is als changing. Schls increasingly use trips t amusement parks r sprting events as a treat fr students rather than an pprtunity fr cultural learning. This shift culd have a basis in generatinal differences between teachers’ reasns fr rganizing days ut f schl. A recent survey cnducted amng 500 Arkansas teachers shwed that lder teachers were significantly mre likely t take the primary purpse f a field trip as a learning experience than yunger teachers, wh view it as fun.
Sme evidence shws the trend f fewer trips may have a negative effect n children’s develpment. A research led by Jay Greene at Arkansas University fund that students wh received a tur f an art museum greatly imprved their knwledge f and the ability t think critically abut art. They als display strnger histrical interest and were mre likely t visit cultural places in the future. The researchers warn that if schls cut field trips r switch t less educatinal destinatins, valuable pprtunities t braden and enrich children’s learning experiences are lst.
    24. What is the initial(最初的) purpse f field trips t cultural institutins?
    A. T teach students useful skills in ecnmics. B. T make every student expsed t art and culture.
    C. T educate students t preserve cultural heritage. D. T encurage parents t take their children there.
    25. Which factr mst prbably leads t the trend f fewer field trips?
    A. The drp in schl funds. B. Students’ demand fr fun.
    C. The dilemma f schl finance. D. Teachers’ generatinal differences.
    26. What des the underlined phrase “This shift” in Paragraph 3 refer t?
    A. The switch frm ld generatins t yung generatins.
    B. The switch frm sprting events t cultural experiences.
    C. The change frm an pprtunity t learn t a treat t entertain.
    D. The change frm educatinal destinatins t luxurius attractins.
    27. What can be inferred abut field trips frm the research by Jay Greene?
    A. Students are rewarded with mre cultural awareness.
    B. Amusement parks enrich children’s learning experiences.
    C. Cutting field trips is critical t the future f the museum.
    D. Field trips guarantee better future academic perfrmance(学业成绩)

If a jb is wrth ding, it’s wrth ding prly first. These are the wrds f Jel Salatin f Plyface Farm. Jel’s pinin is that we’ve all grwn up with the expressin “if it’s wrth ding, it’s wrth ding right.” Persnally, I grew up hearing it as “if it’s wrth ding, it’s wrth ding well.” Yet, as Jel says, nbdy des it right the first time. Jel explained that it’s this kind f thinking that prevents us frm innvating(创新) in ur wn lives. We’re frightened t death t try new things, because we think we have t get it right the first time.
This is an innvative farmer’s wisdm. It resnates(和.…..类似) well with what I’ve learned frm master teachers as well as with research n perfectinism. Let me speak briefly f bth f these.
I have been frtunate t have a number f mentrs(导师) in my develpment as a teacher. One f my favrites is a retired bilgy teacher frm the University f British Clumbia, Lee Gass. Lee explained t me that it’s nt until we knw that we dn’t knw, it’s nt until we admit ur ignrance, even celebrate ur ignrance, that we can learn anything at all!
When we learn t see that it is thrugh admitting ur ignrance and trying even thugh it wn’t be perfect r even “right” the first time that we can learn anything, we really start living.
Sme f the research stresses the harm f nt taking this attitude in ur pursuit(追求). Perfectinism is ften said t be the enemy f the gd. It’s als the enemy f even trying.
I fr ne take this farmer’s advice t heart. I d try my best t d things as well as I pssibly can, but I recgnize that it’s the creative prcess where we learn, if we stay at it lng enugh. If a jb is wrth ding, it’s wrth ding prly first.
    28. What is Jel’s pinin abut a jb that is wrth ding?
    A. It is wrth trying. B. It is wrth ding well.
    C. It is wrth ding right. D. It is wrth perfecting.
    29. What d Jel and Lee have in cmmn?
    A. Bth f them are ignrant. B. Bth f them d a pr jb.
    C. Bth f them lve their jbs. D. Bth f them value ignrance.
    30. What is the finding f sme f the research accrding t the text?
    A. It’s impssible t be perfect. B. It’s harmful t change yur gal.
    C. It’s dangerus t seek perfectin. D. It’s easy t becme the enemy f the gd.
    31. What des the authr stress in the last paragraph?
    A. The value f creatin. B. The benefit f learning.
    C. The meaning f freedm. D. The imprtance f a prcess.
    第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
    根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Shuld yu listen t music when yu wrk? Sme will say they lve it, claiming that it imprves their perfrmance; thers will say they cannt wrk effectively with music playing in the backgrund. 32 It just depends n what srt f wrk yu’re ding.
In a recent study, we brught participants int ur lab with a variety f tasks. They included an easy task — searching thrugh wrd lists and crssing ut wrds cntaining the letter “a” and a mre difficult task — memrizing wrd pairs and recalling the partner t each wrd. Sme participants cmpleted all f the tasks in silence, whereas thers cmpleted the tasks with instrumental music that was either lud r sft, and either simple r cmplex, the latter meaning music with mre instrumental tracks(音轨). 33
We fund that participants wh listened t simple music r n music perfrmed abut the same n the easy task. 34 On the cntrary, participants perfrmed wrse n the mre difficult task when they listened t any music, regardless f cmplexity r vlume, cmpared t thse wh didn’t listen t any music.
35 Nt surprisingly, we typically need t use fewer f ur mental resurces when we perfrm easy tasks, whereas demanding tasks require mre brainpwer. Hwever, because we might be less engaged during easier tasks, there’s a greater risk f drifting ff t sleep. Music might give us the extra bst(推动; 促进) we need t get refreshed. 36 Listening t music can becme verkill(过犹不及). S we have t strike a balance between the type f music and the type f task.
