Have yu ever thught abut what blind peple dream abut? If mst f their wrld is dark, what d their dreams lk like?
Because dreaming is a functin f the brain and nt the eyes, blind peple d dream. Blind peple dream abut much the same things as sighted peple, thugh the way they dream may be a little different. Dreams can cntain all aspects f the senses, frm sight, taste, tuch, smell t sund. Mst dreams cnsist f visual (视觉的) and auditry (听觉的) elements, but less than 1 percent f reprted dreams cntain the ther three senses. This may simply be because mst peple heavily depend n sight and sund in daily life. But blind peple reprt dreams cntaining the senses f smell, taste and tuch mre than sighted peple d.
It is prved that if a persn became blind befre the ages f abut 5 t 7, their dreams will nt cntain visual images but thse wh became blind later in life may cntain. This indicates that the brain’s ability t dream in images develps befre the ages f 5 t 7. The lnger a persn has been blind, the less visual cntent their dreams cntain.
Similar t the findings abut whether blind peple can see in their dreams, research shws that it is pssible fr blind peple t dream in clr if they have had sight in their life. Thse wh lst their sight mre recently are mre likely t have mre clr and images in their dreams. It desn’t make sense that smene wuld dream in black and white unless that’s what they see during the day. There are many ways t interact with (与……互动) the wrld in waking life, and this is true f dream life.
    4. What will happen if a persn becmes blind befre 5?
    A. His dream will cntain nthing.B. His brain’s ability cannt develp well.
    C. He may nt be able t dream in images.D. He spends lnger time dreaming in pictures.
    5. What can we learn frm paragraph 2?
    A. We depend n sight and sund in daily life t much.
    B. The senses we use mst in life will shw up mre in dreams.
    C. Blind peple’s brains are different frm thse f sighted peple.
    D. Blind peple’s dreams never cntain the senses f sight and sund.
    6. What decides whether blind peple dream in clr r nt?
    A. Hw they cnnect with the wrld.B. What they have experienced in waking life.
    C. Why they lst their sight recently.D. What they can see in their dreams.
    7. What is the passage mainly abut?
    A. Why the blind dream.B. Hw the blind dream.
    C. When the blind dream.D. What the blind dream.
C 5. B 6. B 7. D

根据第二段的“Dreams can cntain all aspects f the senses, frm sight, taste, tuch, smell t sund. Mst dreams cnsist f visual and auditry elements, but less than 1 percent f reprted dreams cntain the ther three senses.(梦可以包含感官的各个方面,从视觉、味觉、触觉、嗅觉到声音。大多数的梦包含视觉和听觉元素,但只有不到1%的报告包含其他三种感官。)”可知,我们在生活中最常用的感官(视觉和听觉)会在梦里更多地出现,故选B。
    【6题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段的“Similar t the findings abut whether blind peple can see in their dreams, research shws that it is pssible fr blind peple t dream in clr if they have had sight in their life. Thse wh lst their sight mre recently are mre likely t have mre clr and images in their dreams. It desn’t make sense that smene wuld dream in black and white unless that’s what they see during the day.(与关于盲人是否能在梦中看到东西的发现类似,研究表明,如果盲人在生活中有视力,他们就有可能做彩色的梦。那些最近失明的人更有可能在他们的梦里看到更多的颜色和图像。梦到黑白两色是说不通的,除非他们白天看到的是黑白两色。)”可知,他们在现实生活中的经历决定了盲人的梦是否有颜色,故选B。
    【7题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段的“Have yu ever thught abut what blind peple dream abut? If mst f their wrld is dark, what d their dreams lk like?(你有没有想过盲人会梦到什么?如果他们的世界大部分是黑暗的,他们的梦是什么样子的?)”和第二段的“But blind peple reprt dreams cntaining the senses f smell, taste and tuch mre than sighted peple d.(但据报道,盲人的梦比正常人更多地包含嗅觉、味觉和触觉。)”

Fr generatins, depressin has been seen as an illness, disrder r even weakness. Such an idea makes sense because depressin causes suffering and even death. But what if we’ve gt it all wrng?
The cmmn wisdm is that depressin starts in the mind with abnrmal thinking. That leads t symptms like headaches, stmachaches, r tiredness. Nw, mdels like the Plyvagal Thery (理论) suggest that we’ve gt it wrng. It’s the bdy that finds danger and starts s a defense strategy meant t help us survive. That bilgical strategy is called immbilizatin, and it demnstrates in the mind and the bdy with a set f symptms we call depressin.
When we think f depressin as unnecessary suffering, we are telling peple with depressin that they are nt part f the grup, they are nt right and they dn’t belng. That makes them lse hpe. But when we begin t understand that depressin happens fr a gd reasn we lift the shame. Instead, peple with depressin are curageus survivrs, nt damaged sick peple.
The autnmic nervus system (ANS自主神经系统) is cnstantly scanning ur internal and external envirnment fr signs f danger. If ur ANS detects a threat r even a simple lack f safety, its next strategy is t fight r t flee, which we ften feel as anxiety. Smetimes the threat is s bad r ges n fr s lng, that the nervus system decides there is n way t fight r t flee. At that pint, there is nly ne ptin left: immbilizatin.
The immbilizatin respnse is the riginal bilgical defense in higher animals. It dulls pain and makes us feel discnnected. Think f sme reptiles (爬行动物), which shut dwn their bdies t avid cld temperatures and the lack f fd and water. In humans, peple ften describe feeling “ut f their bdies” during extremely unpleasant events, which has a defensive effect f reducing the emtinal shck. This is imprtant because sme things are s terrible, we dn’t want peple t be fully present when they happen. What unbelievable ability f ur bilgy t find a way in hard times!
    12. Why des the authr mentin the Plyvagal Thery?
    A. T ffer a standard fr identifying depressin.
    B. T raise peple’s awareness f mental prblems.
    C. T make sense f hw depressin affects peple.
    D. T crrect a cmmnly held idea abut depressin.
    13. What can we infer frm paragraph 3?
    A. Depressin can bring peple in truble hpe.
    B. Peple may feel it wrng t have depressin.
    C. Depressin is an unnecessary human emtin.
    D. Peple ften feel prud f fighting depressin.
    14. What is “immbilizatin” in the text?
    A. Building up anxiety.B. Rising t challenges.
    C. Shutting dwn actin.D. Pulling thrugh a truble.
    15. In which rder des ur bdy react t an extremely unpleasant situatin?
①seek t wrk ut slutins ②becme aware f a threat
③experience emtinal shck ④start defensive discnnectin
    A. ②③④①B. ④②①③C. ②①③④D. ④①②③
D 13. B 14. C 15. C
根据第二段“Nw, mdels like the Plyvagal Thery (理论) suggest that we’ve gt it wrng.(现在,像多迷走神经理论这样的模型表明我们错了。)”
根据第三段“When we think f depressin as unnecessary suffering, we are telling peple with depressin that they are nt part f the grup, they are nt right and they dn’t belng. That makes them lse hpe.(当我们认为抑郁症是不必要的痛苦时,我们是在告诉抑郁症患者,他们不是这个群体的一部分,他们是不对的,他们不属于这个群体。这让他们失去了希望。)”可知,人们可能会觉得有抑郁症是错误的。故选B。
    【14题详解】
词句猜测题。根据最后一段“It dulls pain and makes us feel discnnected. (它能减轻痛苦,让我们感到疏离。)”以及“Think f sme reptiles (爬行动物), which shut dwn their bdies t avid cld temperatures and the lack f fd and water.(想想一些爬行动物,它们会减少活动以避免寒冷的温度和缺乏食物和水。)”
根据第四段“If ur ANS detects a threat r even a simple lack f safety, its next strategy is t fight r t flee, which we ften feel as anxiety. Smetimes the threat is s bad r ges n fr s lng, that the nervus system decides there is n way t fight r t flee. At that pint, there is nly ne ptin left: immbilizatin.(如果我们的ANS发现了一个威胁,甚至是简单的缺乏安全,它的下一个策略是战斗或逃跑,这是我们经常感到焦虑。有时威胁太严重或持续时间太长,以至于神经系统决定没有办法战斗或逃跑。在这一点上,只有一个选择:固定。)”以及第五段“In humans, peple ften describe feeling “ut f their bdies” during extremely unpleasant events, which has a defensive effect f reducing the emtinal shck.(在人类中,人们经常描述在极度不愉快的事件发生时感到“灵魂出窍”,这有一种减少情绪冲击的防御作用。)”
