    Objectives: By the end of the lesson, the students will …

    present suggestions to the head teacher through what-why-how perspective.

    review some theme-based words and expressions (such as eagerness, challenges, under pressure, butterflies in ones stomach, etc.), and seven basic sentence structures through corpus analysis.

    review some words related to school clubs (such as badminton club, dram club, band club, debate club, etc.) by mind-map.

    review the structure of diary (such as content, format, the first person and simple past tense, etc.) , dialogue (structure-expressions-content) and interview(beginning-body part-ending pattern and turn-taking) by structural analysis.

    reflect on their performances of the whole unit.

    [What] 本节课主要涉及是四个部分的内容:陈述(presentation)、复习(review)、反思(reflection)和项目式作业(project)。复习部分包括:基于读后续写的语料库复习描述经历和感受的主题词汇(比如eagerness, challenge, under pressure, butterflies in ones stomach等)和七大基本句型(主谓,主系表,主谓宾,主谓宾补,主谓宾宾,主谓状和主谓宾状)、日记的结构分析(时间、时态和人称等)、对话的结构(结构如何传递意义)和访谈的结构(引出主题、语轮替换和结束总结)。

    [How] 本节课通过陈述-复习-反思-项目式作业的方式,带领学生复习单元重点内容,陈述改善学校的建议,反思学习表现和开展项目式学习。

    [Why] 通过本节课,引导学习复习描述高中学习生活的经历和感受,分析不同语篇(日记、对话和访谈)的结构,参与学校决策并提出解决方案,合理规划高中学习生活,形成积极乐观的学习生活态度。

     

    Analysis of Students

    已知本次授课为深圳市高中所有学生。与其他地区相比,深圳学生的英语语言能力整体偏高,表达欲较强,具备较好的听说读写能力。学生已经学习了第一单元的所有内容,理解了高中孟浩高中生活的经历和感受,学习了七大句子基本类型,学习了相关社团的表达方式,学习了日记、访谈和对话的基本结构。作为学校的一份子,他们也想向学校提建议,提高高中学习生活质量。

    【想知】基于单元整体教学,学生想知道如何从单元整体视角巩固单元内容;同时,学生也想知道如何以委婉的方式表达改善学校的建议;此外,学生想要养成自我反思的习惯。

    【需知】本节课,学生需要从单元整体视角出发,复习单元事实性信息,主题下词汇和表达,多模态语篇分析方式,表达建议和评价学习表现,最后完成制作学校宣传册的项目式作业。

    1. Present your suggestions to the head teacher

    (1) think about the changes you would suggest to the head teacher to improve your school;

    (2) work in groups online to present suggestions;

    (3) rate which is the best suggestion;

    (4) help improve and send it to the head teacher;

    (5) present the group-work suggestions next class.

    To create a situation to motivate students to freely speak out of their suggestions and send their suggestions to the head teacher.

    1. Reflecting on vocabulary

    Teacher guides students to use the corpus to review theme-based words and expressions by answering the following questions:

    (1)  What are the words and expressions that you have learned from understanding ideas?

    (2)  What are the words and expressions that you have learned from using language?

    (3)  What are the words and expressions that you have learned from developing ideas?

    To consolidate the theme-based words and expressions.

    Reviewing and consolidating

    Every student engages in the corpus reading to finish the word formation by filling in the blanks, uses mind-map to talk about words related to school clubs, and review words from developing ideas based on crossword puzzles.

    1. Reflecting on grammar

    Teacher guides students to use the corpus to review seven basic sentence structures by finishing the following tasks:

    (1)  Could you find out the examples of seven basic sentence structures from understanding ideas?

    (2)  Finish the matching activity.

    To review and consolidate seven basic sentence structure.

    Reviewing and consolidating

    Every student engages in the corpus reading to find out the examples of seven basic sentence structures (SV, SVO, SP, SVOC, SVOO SVOC, SVA).

    1. Reflecting on text structure

    Teacher guides students to review the structures and stylistic features of diary, dialogue and interview.

    To review the text structures and stylistic features of diary, dialogue and interview.

    Reviewing and consolidating

    90% of the students can review the stylistic features of diary,dialogue and interview.

    Make a reflection

    Students rate their performances in this unit, summarize what they have learned and what they need to improve based on an evaluation table.

    To make students clearly assess their performances and think of ways to improve learning efficiency.

    Reflecting and improving

    Every student finishes the reflection part and can clearly understand their advantages and disadvantages.

    [Must] You need to finish the corpus to consolidate what you have learned in this unit.

    [Group Work]

    [Must] Make a brochure: Make a brochure for your own school for you and future students. For further information, you can refer to page 73 in book one.

    To consolidate what the students have learned, motivate students to participate in cooperative learning and meet students requirements with different language proficiency level.

     

    Each students can choose one of the two optional individual work and take part in group work to make a brochure to introduce their school.
