Bored with your life? Dreaming of something different? I always wonder what life would be like 400 km above my head. That's where the International Space Station orbits the earth, with six astronauts living and working on board, for months at a time.
How do they sleep? They spend the night floating in a sleeping bag inside a small cubicle (小隔间) on the ceiling. American astronaut Sunita Williams explains, “It's like a little phone booth, but it's pretty comfortable and it doesn't matter if I turn over and sleep upside down. I don't have any sensation (感觉) in my head that tells me I'm upside down.”
Brushing your teeth in a place where you can't have a tap or a sink can be a challenge. Can you imagine the mess that running water would make in zero gravity? Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield uses a straw to put a big blob of water from a sealed bag onto an ordinary toothbrush and adds a little toothpaste which he has to swallow when he's done.
Daily exercise is essential. The lack of gravity makes bones more fragile and muscles lose strength — so astronauts are encouraged to work out for at least two hours a day.
The role of astronauts in the International Space Station is to act as lab technicians for scientists back on earth. So they spend their time maintaining their environment and performing and monitoring experiments in a confined space about the size of a Boeing 747. Almost every task is carefully planned by mission control — although most astronauts spend their first days losing things until they get used to sticking everything they use to the walls with Velcro, duct tape (强力胶带) or clips (夹子).
One of their most valued perks (额外待遇) is the view from “the office”, dominated by that gigantic blue ball down there, sitting in the darkness of space. Wow! Absolutely breathtaking!
21. When they sleep upside down, the astronauts will not get dizzy because ________.
A. they don't feel it
B. they sleep in the daytime
C. they sleep in special sleeping bags
D. they are trained to adapt to the conditions of weightlessness
22. What parts become weak if astronauts don't exercise?
A. Their teeth and bones. B. Their brains and bones.
C. Their bones and muscles. D. Their teeth and muscles.
23. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The Problems We Met in Space. B. Living and Working in Space.
C. How to Become an Astronaut. D. The International Space Station.

When Time magazine selected Banksy for its list of the world's 100 most influential people in 2010, he found himself in the company of Barack Obama, Steve Jobs and Lady Gaga. He supplied a picture of himself with a paper bag over his head.
Since the 1990s, Banksy has been creating his works in streets around the world. His satirical (讽刺的) art pieces-most of which are in the form of graffiti (涂鸦)-have received widespread attention. Despite his many years being active, however, Banksy has kept his identity a secret. A persistent rumor is that Banksy is the singer Robert del Naja from the music group Massive Attack, but no one has been identified so far.
Banksy is seen by many as an anti-establishment (反权威的) force in the art market. Even though there is a considerable number of art collectors who are willing to pay high prices for his work, he never sells his paintings in private art galleries.
In 2018, Girl With Balloon, one of his most famous artworks, self-destructed in front of a large audience. The art piece had fetched S1.4 million at an auction (拍卖会) before it was destroyed publicly (Banksy himself arranged for it to be done).
Banksy sells most of his work through his online shop. This method of commerce has worked against him as critics say he is also commercializing ant. But interestingly, this online shop does not work like any other e-commerce platform. It would be more suitable if people called it a lottery (彩票) shop. In order to buy the works designed by Banksy, buyers have to answer the question “Why does art matter?” The answers are then judged by comedian Adam Bloom, and only those who are considered worthy are awarded the opportunity to buy a piece.
The artist also gives away thousands of paintings for free. On his website, he provides high-resolution (高分辨率的) images of his works that can be downloaded for free.
24. Why did Banksy provide a picture of himself with his head covered with a paper?
A. He was too shy.
B. Time magazine asked him to.
C. To show his respect for Time magazine.
D. To indicate his unique style.
25. What do we know about Banksy?
A. He is an artist and singer.
B. He only sells his work to artists.
C. He is creative but behaves differently from others.
D. He was angry when Girl With Balloon was destroyed.
26. What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph?
A. Summarize the previous paragraphs.
B. Provide some advice for the readers.
C. Add some background information.
D. Introduce a new topic for discussion.
27. What can we infer from the text?
A. Lady Gaga and Banksy are good friends.
B. Graffiti is Banksy's favorite satirical art form.
C. Private art galleries don't buy and sell artistic works online.
D. Critics of Banksy think his question “why does art matter?” reasonable
C
Tufa grew up in Australia, so she couldn't understand why her father insisted on teaching her Oromo, a language spoken in Ethiopia.
“Dad never spoke about his life back in Ethiopia and yet he insisted on teaching us this language," Tufa said. “There were so many resources at my fingertips for the other languages I was learning and so many people that speak them. But when Dad was teaching us Oromo, there were no textbooks or learning materials at all. And that struck me as really strange."
But as Tufa got older and began doing her own research, she discovered why speaking about Oromo was so painful for her father. The Oromo are the largest racial group of Ethiopia. But since their land was seized in the 1880s, the people have suffered a lot. The Oromo language was banned, including from political life and schools. Oromo texts were destroyed. Tufa's father, an Oromo, fled to Egypt and, in the late 1970s, he was given asylum(庇护)in Australia.
By the time the Oromo ban was lifted, Tufa's father had established a small, private Oromo school in Melbourne to teach the language to the children of asylum seekers. As she helped to teach the students, Tufa realised the teaching resources were awful. She decided to create posters and worksheets for her father's students, using her own money to get them printed.
Three other Oromo schools that had opened in Victoria by then heard about the materials and all of them wanted copies. Tufa realised that if there was a demand for Oromo child education materials in Australia, there must be other communities around the world where resources were also needed.
She launched a crowdfunding campaign so she could print more Oromo learning materials. By the end of 2014, in just six weeks, she had raised almost $125,000. Word of her project spread. Her resources have also found their way to Ethiopia, with people sending copies to family members who still live there. This year, she plans to launch an online store for her publishing company.
28. What did Tufa feel strange about when learning Oromo?
A. Her father's life in Ethiopia.
B. Her father's way of teaching.
C. The lack of learning materials.
D. The appearance of other languages.
29. What is the purpose of the third paragraph?
A. To explain a reason.
B. To give an example.
C. To present an argument.
D. To clear a misunderstanding.
30. How did Tufa meet the increasing demand for Oromo learning materials?
A. She crowdfunded.
B. She turned to his father.
C. She dipped into her own pocket.
D. She created posters and worksheets.
31. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Why the Oromo suffered in Ethiopia.
B. Where the Oromo language is taught.
C. How a girl helps to keep Oromo alive.
D. What schools need in teaching Oromo.
D
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, more people are increasingly familiar with "Zoom fatigue", the tiredness caused by overuse of videoconferencing tools such as Zoom. Zoom fatigue however, can hit people differently depending on their personality.
The videoconferences seem smart and fun, but to many extroverts(性格外向者), the experience has proved to be less satisfying. Zoom does not provide the same heartfelt feedback as a live conversation, so it is not rewarding as expected. In a videoconference, the body language and other visual actions that are so often part of in-person conversation aren't fully there. And that can weigh especially n extroverts
Extroverts can also become impatient at some of the structure and controls that videoconferencing platforms place on conversations. Functions such as muting禁言), for example, control the conversation in a way that does not happen with in-person conversation.
For introverts, video all cause their own special challenges. For one thing, in most virtual meetings, with multiple participants observing one another, introverts feel like being constantly watched. That is quite tiring. They prefer t control who is in their personal space ad for how long, or rather, to connect with people one-on-one or in small groups.
What's more, in-person conversation offers pauses that can give a speaker, especially an introvert time to consider a new thought. Pauses while on-screen, however, can be confusing. Has a person finished speaking? Or has the Internet connection caused the screen to free? Pauses or silence between thoughts or topics feel more unbearable and difficult to interpret due to the video.
Each individual has to find the right balance to create more satisfying Zoom experiences. It is suggested that extroverts improve their videoconferencing experiences by making their calls with larger screens, louder audio and shared activities. For introverts, a good first step is to avoid optional video calls. Setting boundaries beforehand can also help. This could take the form of telling others at the beginning of a call when you need to leave.
32. Who may experience "Zoom fatigue"?
A. Extroverts. B. Introverts.
C. Neither extroverts nor introverts. D. Both extroverts and introverts.
33. Why are extroverts unsatisfied with videoconferencing?
A. They get less reward than introverts.
B. They fail to control their body language.
C. They are not fee to express their opinions.
D. They are asked to express their true feelings.
34. What do introverts prefer?
A. Videoconferencing platforms. B. Pauses in video conversation.
C. Silent observation from others. D. One-on-one communication.
35. Which of the following might be the solution to "Zoom fatigue"?
A. Balance extroverts and introverts.
B. Ask for a leave whenever necessary.
C. Use videoconferencing tools properly.
D. Invite more people to video conferences.

This time his son shouted at his father, "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again although I have told you so many times 'IT IS A CROW'? Are you not able to understand this?,
A minute later the father went to his room and came back with a diary, which he had kept since his son was born. On opening a page, he asked his son to read that page:
Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa when a crow suddenly landed on the window. My son asked me 23 times what it was and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a crow. 书面表达(满分20 分)
Paragraph 1:
After reading the diary, the son was filled with tears and began to reflect on the days when he used to sit together with his father. His eyes filled with tears. His father would patiently answer the same question all 23 times without feeling irritation while his father asked him the same question just 4 times! The son thought to himself: If I attain old age, how will my son look at me? Will he think of me as a burden? Will he shout at me because of my poor sight, poor hearing or poor understanding?
Paragraph 2:
Feeling ashamed, the son got down on his knees before his father. He made an apology to his father, begging his father to forgive him for his bad behavior. He said aloud, “I promise to make you happy forever, Dad. It is you who have cared for me ever since I was a little child, showering your selfless affection on me. You worked hard to make money so that I could afford to go to university. I will serve you in the best way.”
