When you are busy with your schoolwork, you might find it tough to get enough sleep. We all know that not getting enough sleep is bad for our health. But it has been found that less sleep could even cause you to have fewer friends.
According to researchers from the University of California, people who don't get enough sleep are less willing to socialize(交往)with others. They are simply too tired to go out.
The researchers did a small study. They tested 18 young people who just had a good night's sleep and tested them again after a sleepless night. The participants watched videos of people with neutral(中性的)expressions walking toward them. When the person on the video got too “close” to them, they pushed a button(按钮)to stop the video, which recorded how close they allowed the person to get.
The results showed that people kept the person at a distance of 60 percent further if they hadn't got enough sleep. They felt that their personal space was being invaded(侵占). But when the participants got a good night's sleep, they allowed the person to get much closer to them.
According to the lead researcher Matthew Walker, the less sleep you get, the less you want to socialize with others. In turn, other people may think you are strange and stay away from you. This can make you feel lonely and cause you to sleep even less. It becomes a vicious cycle(恶性循环).
So if you want to be a more sociable and popular person, sleeping well might help. “One night of good sleep makes you feel more outgoing and socially confident,”Walker told the Daily Mail.

Like it or not, plastic is everywhere. We sit on it, store our food in it, drink from it,text with it, type with it, and wear it. Americans buy 50 million plastic water bottles every year, and we throw away enough plastic items each year to circle the Earth four times. But still it is difficult to live without it at present.
What can you do about it?
Broadreach has organized a PlasticFree Day. This is your chance to make a difference by living without plastic for one day. Here's how:
Don't buy anything made of plastic. It is clear that items like water bottles and many kids' toys are made of plastic. However, there are some other items that you may not realize contain hidden plastic.
Just say no to singleuse plastic like straws, cups and bags. Many people love to drink from a straw or use plastic bags to carry things, but they are really an environmental disaster.
Bring your own utensils(餐具)if you're planning to eat outside. This one can be hard to remember. Just put a pair of chopsticks in your bag before you leave home.
Carry a water bottle or a travel mug with you. You know you're going to need some water to get you through your day. So take a bottle or a mug with you. That will help you avoid plastic bottles.
In a word, let's take action to reduce the use of plastic.
