The new study, after six years f hard wrk, has fund a simpler way t d this, with nly 11 steps.
“Our study shws that creating cmplex cmpunds (化合物) like starch is pssible in a lab (实验室), and there are many areas that can benefit frm this technlgy, ” Ma tld China Daily.
The scientists first turned CO2 and hydrgen gas int methanl (甲醇). Then they pieced these methanl mlecules (分子) int bigger and mre cmplex mlecules. Finally the starch came ut.
This methd makes it pssible t prduce fd in factries, replacing traditinal farming. This will nt nly help make plenty f starchy crps (农作物) such as ptates, but als save water, fertilizer (肥料) and land. It may als help recycle CO2 t deal with climate change, accrding t China Daily.
