    In this perid, after the warming up, students will first be guided t imagine and share their views abut the rle f river in life. They will then be helped t read a narratin entitled JOURNEY DOWN THE MEKONG. It’s abut tw students taking a trip dwn a river.

    1. Warming up
    ⑴Warming up by discussing
    Gd mrning, class. D yu like traveling? Why d yu like traveling? And why dn’t yu like traveling? Where have yu ever been befre? Hw did yu get there? If yu are given a chance t travel arund the wrld, what kind f transprtatins will yu use and why? Nw lk at the fllwing pictures and discuss it in pairs.
    ⑵Warming up by lking and speaking
    Nw bys and girls, what d yu need t take with yu if yu are preparing fr a bike trip alng the Changjiang River? Lk at the pictures and tell the whle class which bject yu think is the mst useful and which ne is the least useful. Give a reasn why yu think s.
    ⑶Warming up by asking and answering
    Nw suppse yu live in Qinghai. Yu plan t take a hliday with a friend smewhere in Sutheast Asia. Yu have been given a chance t chse three places t visit. Please find ut the ne-way fare t get there fr different kinds f transprtatin. Perhaps yu may nt knw the exact fare, but yu can guess hw much the fare is. Please have a shrt discussin with yur partners and then decide where t g.
