"Sea stars are incredibly adaptive," said Luhar, assistant prfessr. "When there is high wave activity and high water frces, sea stars will grw skinnier and take n a lwer prfile (姿态). Understanding such shape shifting culd help design underwater rbts that can similarly adapt t extreme hydrdynamic envirnments, Luhar said.
